Blow me.:p Besides, the resemblance is so blatant, a lobotomized monkey could recognize it.

I still think fighter-scale animated gatling guns are the most rediculous waste of render passes imaginable.  I mean no offense Nuke, I know you're infatuated with the things, but I don't see how they are ever worth it.  I'm all for graphical goodies, but if you can't see it in a dogfight then what purpose is it serving?

LOOK, think of HTL like this :: Your video card is an old woman without teeth. Low poly ships = Gobber baby food. High poly shps = a nice supple hamburger. HTL = Dentures.

Its very simple. With Dentures (HTL) you can eat nice supple hamburgers (High poly ships) and throw away your goober baby food (low poly ships) that tastes like pureed asshole and guava.

And i also sudegest you read up on what HTL is about before you attempt to refute this point and i get your ip, contact your provider and tell them to run you over in their service van.

What Krackers tries to say is: Even if your card is very old and has never even heard of HTL, the engine can run in software HTL mode, which is still 4-5 times faster than the original FS2 engine.

(Kudos to Krackers for the excellent use of metaphoric explaining ;) )

Yes...kinda. Ask Bobbau, he knows the technical details since he coded it.

That's not due to the High Polyness of the models.

Most likely that's due to the large number of textures each model had because they were built with Software TL in mind.

Hey!? What happened to Colonial one!?... :)

Nice to see a fellow 3dsmax-er. Don't forget to use her baking tools to uber up your fighter's textures. Looking good so far.

Texture hapend I can't make decent one

You can use your existing one. Make a "mix" texture instead of standard. And miz it with 3dsmax's metal library. Use a bump map as well. When u r happy with the look, bake it!!!.

Then yes it does.  Not terribly fast, admittedly, but it's texture counts, not poly counts, that are wrecking your framerates.
