in the mission where you defend enif station - the collosus will not fire on the hawkwood
[edit] for those that don't read the thread
as i've said in this thread already
A) it wasn't the ignore-target bug
B) it was a build-specific bug
C) that bug doesn't exist in the latest CVS tree, along with the bug that was preventing me from using latest CVS having been fixed
-
And is this a bug? If so, why are you posting it here, instead of Mantis ;)
-
you of all people!?
have you tried ordering everyone to atack it?
-
I just tried this with the latest CVS and it worked fine.
Did you send any orders to your wingmen? I didn't.
-
bobboau: why ask questions to which you already know the answer
yes, several times
i cannot play with latest CVS - stupid engine glow bug (unless that's been fixed)
-
I've played in both D3D and OGL recently and had no problems with engine glows.
Edit: Time warp.
-
engine bug fixed in latest build
[edit]
fire bug fixed as well
-
We had this topic a month or 2 ago, I think you must have given your wingmen the "Ignore My Target" order. Funnily enough it was in the exact same mission. I remember once I tried to save my wingmen in high noon by oredering them to ignore the Sathanas. THe ships then ignored each other and flew off for about 60000 Metres.
-
The "ignore target" bug has been around and known for ages, particularly in that mission. For whatever reason it is much more obvious there than anywhere else. However, seeing as Kazan has been around forever, I sincerely hope that he's already tried not doing that.
-
as i already said once in this thread - no it wasn't the ignore target bug

Nothing else in the mission can kill the Hawkwood. So basically you're stuck sitting around waiting for the Colossus to do it.

Actually, if you wait long enough, the Hawkwood will destroy the Colossus.
-
"Captain, that wussy little NTF corvette is ripping us a new one! Shouldn't I return fire?!"
"Alpha 1 said to IGNORE TARGET, so we IGNORE TARGET. Got it, punk?"
"Uh..."
-
Yea, I remember seeing this being discussed a few months back.
Something like "form up" or "ignore target" one of those.

Kaz, this happens occasionally, and it's not an ignore target bug. replay the mission and it'll most likely work.
-
A) it wasn't the ignore-target bug
This is a bit off topic, but I think that bug really needs to be fixed at some point.
-
Carl, I've had the same problem occasionally, and no, it sometimes won't.
-
but it also sometimes will, right?
-
Actually, no, it didn't, I had to switch to a different build to get past the problem.

ditto

The Colossus always destroyed the Hawkwood for me if I hadn't given the ignore-target to my wingmen. My guess is that the beam-free-all is hurt because of the SCP's 'All ships beam-freed by default' thingy.
-
why don't people read the entire fuqing thread before posting
-
My guess is that TopAce's guess will turn out to be one of the most ill informed wild arse guesses of all time. :p
-
Methinks the original FS missions weren't beam-free-alled by default. The beam-free-all by default thing only works in the SCP, not retail.
-
I know this, did I sound who didn't? Well, it is still possible.
-
I'm 90% sure Kaz is referring to a turret FOV bug i've seen sometimes...
It's like some turrets stopped firing in most cases because a bug fix (oh, the irony) was meant to stop beams firing through the model.
I think the Colossus had such problem in that mission as it is positioned around the FOV edge for the main turrets...
In many cases all i got was a bubble turret fire exchange... Meh!
-
The position of the Colossus hardly matters, she has turrets all around. If she's within range, beams can be fired.
-
zarax is exactly correct - the colossus does not have beam that face directly down topace
people not reading the entire thread to know it was a build specific build are REALLLY annoying the **** out of me
-
Kaz, was it something not much after 3.6 or Bob's shadow3?
-
it was an intermediate build that i don't know the date of offhand
-
Did you try looking for turret fix or something like that?
That build at exactly it as a feature, fixing turrets firing and intersecting with the model.
-
This thread should really be closed...
The no-fire-through-model code is commented out in CVS anyway.
-
Ok, so Kazan you should get a newer build and i should shut up :D
-
already got one
-
spinning wheels...
