Title: What is your top three favorite Anime songs?
Post by: Gai Daigoji on March 06, 2005, 03:44:16 pm
In order, number 1 being the best:

1. Gekigangar 3 Theme Song - "Let's go Gekigangar 3!"

2. Full Metal Panic Opening Theme - "Tomorrow"

3. Martian Successor Nadesico Ruri Theme - "Want to be your number one"

1) Mou Ichido - Macross II: Lovers Again

2) Mizu no Hoshi e Ai wo Komete - Z Gundam

3) Evolution - The Big-O

1) Full Metal Alchemist - Rewrite
2) Naruto - Far Off Distance
3) Cowboy Bebop - Tank!

The funny thing is, the first two I've never actually seen the opening with the song.  My friend had a bunch of Asian Kung-Fu Generation MP3s, and I copied them off of his computer.

GEKIGANGAR!!!

nah, seriously... in random order
azumanga daioh - tukurimasyou! (that song chiyo-chan sings in the first ep or something, when she's cooking)
gits sac - lithium flower (this one really grew on me)

there's so many more, but I guess for number 3 I'll take the ending song of banner of the stars - pink.

"Drive / Driven" from Space Adventure Cobra.

Does that count?

There's always Gackt - Dears from one of the Gundam series... Why on earth they'd want a skinny japanese man in leather leopard print pants singing a song to his fan club for the theme of a gundam series is beyond me, but it's there.

This is entirely unfair because FLCLs music is done by The Pillows - and nearly every one of their songs rock. I'm going to restrict myself to just one Pillows song to try and be fair - but for my money I'd include about 15 of them.

In Anime/Composer/Title layout:

1 - Naruto -  Toshiro Masuda - The Raising Fighting Spirit
2 - FLCL - The Pillows - Crazy Sunshine
3 - Cowboy Bebop - Unknown - Chicken Bone

However you could chuck half a dozen more Naruto songs, most of FLCL, a lot of Hellsing and NGE as well as a bit of Akira and Love Hina in there and still be leaving some out.

Scramble - the School Rumble opening (stupid song manages to cheer me up everytime I listen to it).
Pulse - From DNAngel
Dreams - Gundam X opening (and many Gundam songs in general)

mmh... Kiseki no Umi, the opening from Lodoss TV... Then, maybe... Face, op from heat guy J. And finally... the op from Hellsing maybe, don't know the name.

Oh, and for fun, I would have said Bomb a'ead (op from Tenjou Tenge ) because there's some kind of delirium going on with that one on another forum I visit - I would have said that if I didn't hate that music that much :P

special mentions: the op from Noir, Madlax and Avenger, all by the same band, and all very unque in their own way.

That's a particularly evil piece of music.

You should hear the opening and ending themes for the 2nd Gig, they sound pretty good as well :)

I'm only a fan of a few anime shows, but from what I've heard, I'd  have to say my favorite might be the Big O opening theme.  Come on, you know you just have to sing along. :p Second might be "Gravity," the credits song for Wolf's Rain.  Third...I'd probably say the intro to Ghost in the Shell:  Stand Alone Complex.

Haha! That makes three Two-Mix fans I know of...

This is gonna be hard...hmm...

1. Outlaw Star - Power
2. Detective Conan - Truth (Actual artist Two-Mix.)
3. Inital D(?) - Stay (I can't confirm this is actually in the anime, I haven't seen too much of it. It is on the soundtrack, though. And originally recorded in English, subbed-fan cretins!)

Narrowly defeated for third place are something from Gunsmith Cats for which I'm not sure the track tags are correct (they list it as Gunsmith Cats - Shelby GT500, but no song by that name exists to my knowledge) Gundam Wing's/Two-Mix's Rhythm Emotion, and Suzuka's theme from Outlaw Star.

Had Ready, Go! or Discharge by Two-Mix ever been used in an anime they would probably be in the top slot...honorable mention to some of the character-themed Sailor Moon techno mixes, but they're fanmade almost certainly...also honorable mention to From Uncertainity to Impatience, from Gundam Wing.

well, they're definitely good. as I previously stated, I think 3 songs are way too few for me to be able to really decide...

well, mostly because it isn't exactly cheap, and there'd be at least 25% more expensive because of toll and VAT. also, I lost the url to that place that actually was in a language I can read...

of course, they being in the same dvd region is a little plus, at least.
