Holy. ****.
This thing is getting way more done that i could ever have hoped for!
TrekUnited had been approached by the exclusive rights holder of the Star Trek franchise on last Wednesday. While the legal negotations take time and are of course strictly confidential, further information on the talks will be released as soon as possible and agreed by both parties.
Paramount apraoched THEM. not even the other way around
"We basically think we have them (Paramount) in limbo until they figure out what is going on exactly and what to do with us." Stated Mr Braezal.
"The main problem from our end is that we can't wait to spill the details fast enough! There are various confidentiality issues we must respect in order to keep the talks going- the minute we are able to release specific we will. But yes, they have been and still are turning out good results on a daily basis in terms of feedback"
Trek United has been in talks with paramount for over a week now,[/u] and while such talks can be expectedly slow going, already there have been some minor victories.
Tim then confirmed that all of the Enterprise Cast and Crew were still under contract, and that they we're all interested without exception in returning for a 5th Season of Enterprise. [/u]
In addition, it has been confirmed that SPIKE TV are definitely interested in obtaining Enterprise, and further to that, Trek United have also recently been contacted by TNT and that they are also interested in obtaining the show.
And now for the BIG ****ING BANG![/size]
In other news, Trek United stated that Writer Brannon Braga was now out of the picture, however Rick Berman was still solidly in.
One down, one to go. :D:D:D THERE IS A GOD, FOR HE HAS RID US OF BRAGA AND HAS GIVEN US HOPE!
*dances*
*dances some more*
*injects caffeine directly into bloodstream*
*dances*
*dies happy*
-
All good news, well 'cept Berman still being around but er... :D
-
Hey, one down, one to go.
Trek fans can be cruel if they got means. And right now, it looks like they are getting even more then just the means... :drevil:
-
I don't even watch Enterprise, but hey, good news.
Power to the people!
-
I'm glad to see one of them kicked out on his ear. It's cause of his stupidity that Enterprise got cancelled in the first place. He certainly shouldn't be given the chance to drag the franchise down a second time (well third if you include the 7 seasons of dragging Trek down that were called Voyager). :D
-
You know, I just finished watching Season 3 last week. Frankly, I think it went better than most people give it credit for.

mostly because in the last half of the season various episodes were actually written by Manny Coto :D
But yes, Season 3 is good, but season 4 rocks. ;)

Notice how it turned **** in the last 5 minutes though? From what I hear that was B&B's contribution to the episode.

That explains a lot actually.

Well, the whole "Nazis... again?" thing kicked in for me.
-
Here hold the bus, do you have a link for this stuff Tiara?
Edit: After actually bothering to check trekunited forum properly I got it.
-
The official news post; http://www.trekunited.com/news.php?id=16
And this one (which is basically a summary of the chat session); http://www.trekdatabase.net/v2/ (second news post)
Also, some of the quotes i gave were from an official chat session with Tim Braezal (founder of TrekUnited.com) that I was at. They are also in the TrekDatabase newspost obviously ;)

Yeah :ick:... but surprisingly (or not), Manny Coto managed to wrap it up in two not even half bad episodes :)
-
Ironically enough I was just watching the episode with the fight between Reid and the MACO in season 3.

You know what, **** it. i'm getting a little tired of this **** around here. HLP has gone downhill quite a lot lately. There is always some ass that deliberately tries to annoy someone else.
Now even i get blamed for the actions of someone who has been doing the same thing for the last three f'ing threads on this subject.
Nope, I've felt this coming for some time now but I've had it with this board. the only thing worth my time around here is the B5 project.
:ick:
-
i've deleted some posts on request, Ford stay out of the thread if you don't have anything positive to say.

i am sorry to hear that you feel that way Tiara, but you should know that there will allways be people acting like children, don't let them get you.
Hope you will stay anyway.
-
Nah, it's been coming for the last 6 months. And if it would just be contained to the more heated debates i can understand.
But when it continiously happens even in innocent threads like this, well i'm sorry but it just pisses me off.
A year ago i would've said that there is no better board on the net, but this has changed. I know there are a lot of good and friendly people here too, but it just gets to me that i can't even post a thread like this without someone acting like a twelve year old barging in.
If i were admin i'd whip them on the spot and give them a few days worth of bannage to keep those f'ing n00bs of the forum. If they want to harrass someone they can go play Half-life, join some weird anime board or whatever :ick:
But I guess that's exactly the reason why nobody wants me as admin :p
-
i just don't go into the drama thread anymore. all you have to do is leave the thread when the flames start flying and not come back, and you'll feel better.

wow... that's... amazing...
Seems like Star Trek's latest series is going to continue to air, but I advise not to get your hopes up.
-
As a certain alien Doctor once said: "Optomism captain!"
-
All the socially charged threads I've been entangled in, and the first place someone takes me too seriously is a Star Trek thread? To be quite serious, I don't care whether Enterprise runs for fifty years, and I certainly don't mind if everyone loves it. In fact, the only pertinent phenomenon that I do mind is when people think I mean offense when I don't pepper my contributions with emoticons! For goodness sakes, I don't take offense when people call Andromeda "Hercules in Space." (Even though their souls need to be saved.)
Anyway, my sincerest apologies.
-
But Andromeda is Hercules in space. He even dresses in the same style :p
Overall though, I'm forced to give the idea of a fan-run Trek a huge "meh." The obsession with prequils is getting really annoying, and Enterprise has never been particularly good. What originally made Trek good was the relative non-tie from one show to the next, that allowed subplots to come up and then die back down. Since Voyager and the whole "journey home" thing, it hasn't been the same. Blame the writers perhaps, but there's just something lacking.

Sorry, but I've just got to ask this from everyone who says Enterprise isn't good. Have you seen season 4?

You want back the reset button? Ugh, that's just not right. Two or three episode stories are much better, especially so with good writers. I don't mean the previous series were bad (except Voyager), but it's much more fun to have a strong continuity to the series.
-
Actually, Spike TV backed out.

Spike Backs Off Enterprise Talk
A spokeswoman for Spike TV backed off comments that the cable network was considering picking up UPN's canceled Star Trek: Enterprise in an interview with SCI FI Wire. The Boston Herald had quoted Debra Fazio saying: "It would definitely be something we would look at, and we know how devoted the show's fans are."
But Fazio clarified her remarks on March 8. "The quote was misconstrued," she said in an interview. "We can't say yes or no until it's proposed to the network, and that hasn't happened yet." Fazio added: "That's not something that we're actively going out and pursuing."
UPN announced earlier that it is canceling the low-rated Enterprise at the end of the current fourth season. No other network has stepped forward to pick up the show, and executive producer Rick Berman previously said that he was not interested in shopping the series around.
Fans, meanwhile, have been actively campaigning to revive the series for a fifth season, going so far as to raise funds to finance a fifth season themselves. They claim pledges of more than $3 million toward their goal of $36 million.
That being said, I personally cannot stand Enterprise (no thanks to the HORRIBLE episodes it started out with in season 1). If you like it, more power to you. Diversity is a good thing.
If you ask me, what caused it to tank in ratings even more than it already had was when it got moved to the same timeslot as Stargate SG-1.

Maybe they'll make a good descision for once :D
Also, Vertigo;
"We can't say yes or no until it's proposed to the network, and that hasn't happened yet."
According to Tim Breazel in the TU chat, they are still comsidering but can't come out with an official statement yet.

A question; Have you watched Season 3 and 4? If not, you are missing a really good show. i agree that season 1 & 2 suck extremely, but S3 &4 have turned the show completely[/u] around.
All the socially charged threads I've been entangled in, and the first place someone takes me too seriously is a Star Trek thread?
It's not just you, Ford. I might've overreacted yesterday, but it was just getting to me that even in a thread like this someone annoys me on purpose. it was basically the last drop.
Anyway, i'm staying with this thread simply because I want to keep reporting the news on ENT, but i'm not gonna bother with all the other threads anymore.
-
To all those people who don't like ENT;
Like most of you, I usually hate it when a series I follow hits its repeat cycle but I feel differently where this season of Enterprise is concerned. A lot of disenfranchised Trek fans have been slowly coming back to the series, wanting to see what all the fuss is about. After all, why would anyone want to donate millions to keep a series like the one they saw during season one or two on the air? When they tune back in, they get their answer – this isn't the Enterprise they left.
Just thought you should read this :)
-
Too bad, Mrs T., we'll miss you. :(
That being said, maybe if there were a little less trekkies fanboys and fangirls, maybe, juste maybe, shows like firefly would have more of a chance, instead of crappy Trek seasons. ;)

It's the trekkie fanboys and fangirls that mostly watched Firefly.
-
Finally Brannon Braga is out of the picture, though having Paramount out, personally I don't think it's the best idea, and I don't think they even know whats good for themselves anymore.
Hopefully TNT doesn't get what they want, they had some intervention with JMS' Crusade series which really p***** me off, especially from what I heard about it.
All I hope for is that StarTrek gets better and surely the next series should be more entertaining :D

Some people just don't like Star Trek, y'know? Even if it reaches what you'd or other people consider a peak, it doesn't mean other people will think it's any good.
People often have different expectations of the same thing, after all.

That pretty much sums it up... :p And notice that as soon as a new writer enters, things improve dramatically.
The other way around is true as well;
Season 3 of ENT; Very good season but in 5 ****ing minutes they ruin it by introducing f'ing alien space nazi's that want to travel through time.
Season 4 ENT; Extremely good season but they are writing the last episode and almost every trekkie and even Jolene Blalock (T'Pol) said it will be appaling.
I. F'ING. Hate. Them.
-
Let your hate consume you. Give in to it, and cross over to the dark side child.
oh wait, wrong franchise.

I'll definitely watch if they shoot the dog.
I liked Nemesis, but that may be just because my heart is forever with the Next Generation crew, and it was an emotional moment for me.
-
I didn't like the Nemesis story at all, but the battle was
-
I liked the Nemisis movie, actually, as long as I didn't think too much :)
-
Nemesis was decent, but should have been better. Some very important scenes were left on the cutting room floor, which, if I remember correctly, was due to Brannon and Braga insisting the movie be shorter.
-
Indeed, GW. Especially the ending...Trek movies have to end with ships warping out. Period. ;)
-
Nemesis was another obsessive attempt at turning Picard into the main action hero focus.
I despised the way Data died with his "goodbye" - it was nowhere near the level of drama I've come to expect from the 7 years of TNG.
-

I agree whole heartedly. The music in the film was also excelent though. But plot wise, it just seemed like an episode of TNG and not a film. Like the earilier one.. What was it... The one with the angry people with all the plastic surgery, that wanted to hurt their parents for kicking em off the planet...
