I don't know what your problem is, as I can't make any sense of that statement. Otherwise, one really can't help with Truespace, other than to offer condolences. Just play with it until you get it right.

Set the axis of each turret to be in the centre of the turret mesh, if you have single-part turrets.
Set the axis od each turret to be at the bottom of the turret mesh, if you have multi-part turrets.
Also: Be sure to set the axes to a mesh that does not belong to any group(not glued anywhere).

And then supid model view puts the turret in the center of the ship , and AFTER you reload it it works fine I lost 2 days on this and all I had to do is reload converted model aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrgggggggggggggggggg gh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That's why you have to set the axis before you group. Otherwise wierd things can happen. I usually make the axis of the object and the axis of the group match, and if possible I place the local light at the same point.

Are there any naming rules for multi part turrets in model view

The convention for Freespace is turretxx where xx is a number between 01 and 99. The important thing is that you don't have a turret with a name that is the same as the beginning of another turret, as freespace for some reason doesn't distinguish between them and just uses the last one in the file.
