You mean other than the fact that it's about Countersuck? :p
Seriously, though, it's not too bad; far better than anything I could ever accomplish. It could use some polishing, and maybe some better-res screenshots, but I'd say it's a solid start. :)
-
well i plan to have one big intro that covers all of the FpS games i cover thanks for your input
-
Strobing pictures make baby Jesus cry........
-
lol really?
poor baby jesus ...
what on earth am i going to do?
-
More picture variety.
Less FLASHING!!1!!11111one
-
the seizures, no....!!!!!!!!!!! :p
Anyway, it needs a lot of work still but your on the right track . It started quite well, the music choice was good but I thought it hanged on a bit too long with the CS title. The re-use of pictures in the 2nd part of the intro wasn't a good idea, and when the CS title comes on for a 2nd time I thought it might have been better to put some sort of count-down timer instead because of the background sound and then you could have a big explosion picture (sequence of 3-4 perhaps) or something like that and then show some other pics. The pictures lacked quality (should be set to a higher setting), and the preloader doesn't seem to display the progress of the intro.
Good Luck ;)

seconded what xelion said. The re-use of pictures made me think that it was repeating the flash when it first 'came round
-
if you cut to silence while the flashing was going on, it would be more cinematic, the shaking for 20 seconds dosnt hold peopls intrest at all they will just want to skip ahead
-
ok, Thank for your time and input i really appreciate it :-D
-
It's like a prison riot in my mouth, and everyone is invited!
-
lol i invite myself to zlyons mouth
wooooo!!!
party!!
-
That was not a compliment, by the way.
Flash intros are so 90's. They add nothing to a site, and AT BEST don't annoy people into leaving.
-
ok well i knew that wasnt a compliment i was just going along with you ...
so do you think a entrance page would be good?
-
What's the point? Would you like it if Google had a welcome page that you had to click through? Ebay? Amazon? Anything?
The welcome page is nothing more than a speedbump in front of the actual content.
-
ok thank you very much zylon , i appreciate it
-
The Bane strikes again :p

Thats a sad comparision . The reason those pages don't have a splash/welcome page its because they don't need it!

Not necessarily, if its designed for a purpose and is styled well it can tell you exactly what you wanted to know before you even visited the website
-
But if you don't know what the website's about, how would you be visiting it in the first place?
-

Good HCI design puts as little obstacles between the user and the information / action they want as possible.

What I was mean't to say is that the intro (introduction) can tell you what you want to know before you enter the main site (content). If you don't like the intro you can skip, and if the developer of that site is smart they'll use a cookie to remember that command :).

True, though it really depends on what the application's purpose is, in this case entertainment.
And that process was never implemented properly, if someone really wanted that system to work, I would want direct access to a search field, contents and index page from the home page of a site :D. Theres no true way to make information accessible quickly and easily unless you do it that way.
HCI??
What you said I also learnt in System Analysis & Design class, though seeing that I don't work for the technology and sciences department its sort of history :blah:

Not really. The general principles are universal; let the user do/see/go what/where they want, as quickly as possible, with minimal fuss.... I suspect that in many cases, particularly multimedia websites, it's deliberately ignored in order to 'force' the user to spend time looking at the page and whatever they're flogging on it.
Obvious example is, of course, the supreme ****ing irritation of gamespy inserting advert pages into its hosted webpages.....

HCI = Human Computer Interaction.
System Analysis & Design, on my uni course, was covering the general architectural design and notifications (primarily via/using UML diagrams). It was also taught by an irritating fat Greek bastard name Sotirios, and ended up going from 100-odd to less than 10 attendees at lectures through the term.......
