It looks like our friends across the pond have now exceeded the US of A in obesity:
http://abcnews.go.com/Health/wireStory?id=584169
The moral of the story: starve yourselves. It'll reduce the stupid people in the population, reduce the population in general, and means less idiots on the freeway.
We don't hear to much about obesity in Canada. Maybe they're spiking the maple syrup that's exported with lipids. Fattening us up for when the Wraith arrive ;)

bah, just nuke em alll. stupid humans, may they be consigned to oblivion :D
-
send in carl!
-
Dammit! I knew those new McDonalds commercials were crappy! :p
-
Stupid junk food, we're getting closer to US in that :P
-
*starts prodding local fatties* Jump damn you, jump. We won't be having none of that nonsense here!
-
Bah - I don't believe it for a moment. Yeah, maybe the percentage of fatties in Europe is higher here and there, but how fat are they? Cuz when Americans get fat, they get FAT. Big-time.

Well, most of our fatties stays in the 180-200 lbs range, very few go further than that.

what we need to do is figure out the total amount of excess fat in each country and divide it by the population.

I have to admit, the first, last and all in-between times I've been in America I've been somewhat dumbstruck by how fat many of the people there were.... there are a lot of fat people in Glasgow, but not to the same extreme.

180 pounds isn't really fat if we're talking about a grown adult (man). Depending on height, you'de probably have to be 230+ to be considered fat (by me anyway)
-
A cousine of mine went to the US for an exchange year, and when she came back she was almost 50% heavier than before.
According to her she tried to stay away from junk food as much as possible, but the family she stayed with didn't eat much else. And non-junk-food like vegetables seem to be more expensive in relation to junk food.

Dude, i'm 5.74feet (175cm) x 180lbs (80kg) and i'm considered fat around here...
I guess Italian standards are much stricter :)

Scotland is the Land of Fat - I can actually feel myself absorbing fat from the atmosphere when I go there: deep fried everything! :eek2: .....

Well, now you can see what happens when people misguidedly leave the cold soggy embrace of the motherland; they found multi-billion dollar fat-selling empires.
(incidentally, McDonalds sued the owner of McDonald's cafe in Scotland. It was a century old business run by....the McDonald family. Flagrant copyright theft, eh?)
-
Breathtaking arrogance!
I will now blow up all McDonalds in the UK.
-
all i have to say in this thread is LOL!!
-
Actually Clave that's quite an ironic statement: traditionally "Mc"whatever would be of Irish origin, while scottish is MacWhatever.
The differences are rarely seen today, but historically they caused a bit of discrimination.

Its colder up here...metabolisms have to be heigher to cope with the cold. Thats my theory. That and we don't eat quite as much...I don't anyways.
Still...the moment I cross the border...I see fat people everywhere. Disgustingly fat. I don't understand...but its really really bad.

I'm in that range and I am not fat. Then again I am 6'6"......
Don't forget that part of your bidy weight is not only determined by your height, but also your "build"

In my town, you'd be considered a bit overweight, but not much else. I'm a bit taller and a bit heavier, and I'm not that much above the average.

Lol, i guess i'll move abroad then :p
Not that i really care, but hey getting a good girl might be easier ;)

Here´s a related article, warning americans life expectancy will drop in the next years, due to obesity:
CHICAGO - U.S. life expectancy will fall dramatically in coming years because of obesity, a startling shift in a long-running trend toward longer lives, researchers contend in a report published Thursday.
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/7209499/ (http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/7209499/)
So i wouldn´t start feeling happy just yet.
:doubt:

Lol, my homeland is one of the places with the longest life expectance worldwide, we've got plenty of 100+ elders and the average is around 84/85.
