I have so many on my hdd, and more keep coming out every day.
Can some one point me to and recommend the latest stable build with near all features for OGL?
I come to you after I yet again freeze up most way through a mission (First neb mission) and have to reboot.
Thanks in advance.
-
I seem to run into the same problem, freezes and such when running campaigns and missions. What was the last stable build you were using?
-
I currently am using 'fs2_open_T-20050212.exe', but there are issues with the ati OGL dll file, so it crashes when I try to play certain missions.
Hence why I was looking for a normal stable build.
One that i can play a campaign without running into any crashes.
I just hope that the next stable release is focused on stability more so than features.
-
what campaigns you playing?
I don't think its an issue of stability its more of compatibility with existing campaigns/missions with the scp build and the media vp (particulary this one).
To be honest, to be able to play every campaign and most missions ever made would be great with one build and media vp but it ain't gonna happen (if it does kick me), its all gotta be tweaked.

the last build I gave out
http://freespace.volitionwatch.com/blackwater/fs2_open_Bobboau_3-14-05a.zip
seems prety stable, and has good framerates from what I hear, I have had it lock for about half a second every once in a while, but it hasn't hard locked requiering a reboot for a long time, though I may just be lucky.
this is a build testing D3D features, so OGL functionality is not garunteed.
-
A stable build of FSOpen? Good luck. :D
-
My builds (Besides the testing ones) have been pretty stable for the first mission or so. The one I've been playing with (optimized tri-build) sometimes craps out, but the second time through I'm almost always able to get past that point without problems.
-
I usually stick to OGL. I'm just trying to play through the main campaign at the moment. But require extra features enabled while I work on a mod at the same time.
I gave up again, once the first mission as an interceptor crashed during loading. Some issue with atiogl.dll
Does D3D still have most features and stability and purtyness as OGL?
What are the current major differences between the two? I heard one didn't have shine working very well.
Oh and does the main campaign support env mapping?
-
d3d has shine mapping issues with ati cards and recent drivers, other than that it has everything, environment mapping is enabled for all missions, you just got to have the comand line for it
-
So considering I have an ati card, I'm screwed. :(
OGL is buggy, and D3D looks like poop with ati. No spec, and ambient lighting is way high overriding the command line.
Plus it crashed faster than OGL did. Sigh.
So many problems are attacking me from all sides, I can't figure out which is which and what solution is fixing what problems. :(

MOST STABLE BUILD EVER MADE:

-
damn. MP beat me to it.
20050103 is the best I've used as of yet.
-
It's basically 3.6.5 with some bugs fixed so yeah. It's pretty good.
Won't work with mv_music.vp or zPack unless you replace the music table with the default FS2 one though.
-
Kewl. Thanks guys.
Seems to be working for now.
OGL still doesn't show the pre-load screens correctly, but I can live with that. :)
Thanks agains.
btw are Smart shields enabled by default in this build or are they not in it at all?
-
No smart shields in that build.
-
I see, and no Model view in there either.
Plus I am still plauged by random crashes.
Would I still need the vbo fix in that one?
-
I'd imagine so if you needed it in 3.6.5. I don't use OpenGL much though.
