I forgot I was supposed to look into uploading that! :D Let me see how big it is or if I can at least recompress it to a smaller size.

zipping and raring rarely has any signifigant effect on already encoded frames, so no...

Okay. Recompressed the file to XVid and drastically reduced the size so I included Headz and Terran-Vasudan fight as well.
Don't download them if you already have Silent Threat. As it is I'm expecting quite a few people will want to see them.

They live in extras\secret\supersecret on the Silent Threat disk.
Didn't you ever wonder where the whole Vasuans like headz thing came from? :D
There are a couple more in there (including one of a terran pilot running through a corridor which was probably meant to be part of a Wing Commanderish launch sequence that never made it into the final game). Sadly I don't have space to post them all.

I have the silent threat cd. But every time I ran the game, there were no cutscenes.

They are on the actual CD, not through the game.

The had nothing to do with the plot. Headz is just the animators screwing around having fun with the vasudan and terran models.
The Shivan one is quite possibly something similar.

The Shivan one sounds a bit like the descriptions of the attack on Tombaugh, where the Shivans were to have jumped out of the Lucifer and attacked the Terrans in the same way..... it's an interesting animation, maybe at one point they were going to do a Vasudan perspective campaign for the expansion, or maybe this was how they were intending on introducing the Lucifer (Shivans got to come from somewhere, right?)
Incidentally, that Typhon is much more detailed than the game model. Lots of ridges and bumps on the top-back, and not-entirely clear but visible detailing on the front and sides, too.
TVfite... I guess they got the idea from the barfight cut from FS1. Maybe someone pointed out that a Vasudan is a wee bit bigger than a human is......

That one always struck me as a video dump more than anything really bonus. The only one that related to the game at all that looked finished was the Shivan/Vasudan one, the rest looked like animations made for FS1 that were the start of larger scenes never completed due to space, lack of time, or whatnot.

Yep. I think it's just [V] trying to fill up some space on the Silent Threat CD. Not that I mind seeing as how it's the source of one of the communities biggest in-jokes but I wouldn't take anything in those vids as canon. (Unless you want to believe that the Shivans have also trained a giant letter C to eat people!). :D
Cobra : Why shouldn't he have a gun. Most modern fighter pilots carry one in case they get shot down.

I don't remember ever reading in either game that the Shivans physically swarmed out of the Lucifer to attack allied forces. The command briefing ani in FS1 shows several dozen Scorpions flying out of the Lucifer's fighterbay, but no Shivans on their own. As far as I know, the Tombaugh attack was pretty much a standard battle, albeit one where the Lucifer pretty much cleaned up.

There's something odd about the Shivan-Vasudan one in the way the Shivan flies over.... almost as if it was self-propelled, or there was gravity acting on it.
That Typhon... that's a basis for HTL-isation right there, though.

The Tombaugh cutscene (this was cut from the game) script describes;
[q]Over her shoulder we see a huge warp tunnel begin to appear. It’s blood red and much larger than any subspace hole’s seen so far. The crew gasps in shock, wondering what it is.
[cut to closeup of emerging SuperDestroyer. Show tons of fighters spew from it’s bays before it’s even emerged totally. The SD mows over a couple Terran fighters floating in its way.]
[cut to shots of Shivan fighters blasting the helpless Terran fighters, pilots yelling]
[cut to shot of SD passing by the captured Cruiser. Watch as the shadow passes over the side of the station]
[cut to forward shot of the crowd at the window, as the shadow passes over them, they stand there in awe]
[cut to shot over their shoulders, as the SD passes very close to the Cruiser and station. Members of the assault team on the Cruiser point at different parts of it, muttering. The SD gradually slows to a stop.]
[cut to under shot of the SD’s big gun array. It starts to reconfigure and “draw light” to itself.]
[cut to shot of one crewmember]
Crew-1: Oh, no! [like he/she is the first to realize what’s happening]
[cut back to gun]
A huge energy beam blasts out from the gun!
[cut to shot of beam tearing into the Cruiser as it gets thrown back from the blast]
[cut to shot of assault troops at window, being thrown against the window from the impact]
[cut to shot of beam making its way across the Cruiser, slicing it up]
maybe: [cut to angle showing Shivans leaping from openings in the SD (without suits!)]
[cut to interior of cruiser where the crew was]
Through the window we can see the beam approach this room. The crew is running around madly, but the wall erupts and they’re all incinerated in a split second. Come up with some cool incineration effect here.
[cut to medium shot of the two ships]
The beam is cutting through the far side of the Cruiser, and it’s hull is buckling and breaking up.
[cut to interior shot of Shivans boarding and tearing up some Terran crew]
[cut to shot of a floating Terran fighter]
The battle is reflected in his canopy. He’s watching helplessly in wide-eyed fear]
[cut to reverse shot, showing his POV]
A couple seconds of battle can be seen before a Shivan fighter spots him, aims, and blasts him to hell. The screen goes black.

Lots; an expanded 'fail' end scene, several more briefing ones (specifcally showing the destruction of Vasuda prime, and the transmission from the Vasudan scientists afterwards), a news report showing the signing of the TV peace treaty (and also the emergence of the HoL), and a couple of cutscenes set in a Terran officers bar (on the "ITA Repulse", IIRC) which highlighted the continuing animosity between the Terrans and Vasudans.
You'll note in a few cases that the cutscenes became the command brief anis (albiet suitably shortened); at one point there were animated briefings for every 'act' of the story, but it's been cut down to one. Given that the intro apparently took >1 year of man hours to do, it's not surprising they had to cut them.....
This zip - http://www.volition-inc.com/fs/downloads/fsrefbible.zip - has the official FS(1) ref bible (in doc form); it contains a bit of background info, and all the original cutscenes from the game. It doesn't go further than the game does into what and who the Shivans are, natch. It's an interesting read, though - shame there's not an FS2 equivalent.
