[q]After several reports of consoles catching fire, Microsoft urged 14 million console owners to send in their old power leads for a replacement. But hardware experts point out that the power cable was never at root of the problem: it simply made the existing problem worse. The meltdown, and subsequent fire risk was actually caused by wear and tear on the power supply used in early models of the Xbox. The replacement cable featured a trip, which cut down the risk of your house catching fire, but left unfortunate gamers with a fried console. The cord has an interrupter switch that acts like a conventional fuse, tripping power to the unit.[/q]
Just thought it might be a useful heads-up in the unlikely event of anyone being affected..... I always thought the whole power cable situation seemed dodgy.
Strange that they'd let this sort of thing get through QA in the first place, of course.

1. Old news.
2. Hardware experts = several Xbox hardware modders.

Ahh, but modding your XBOX will void it's warranty, and stop some games from playing multi. :p
*Is tempted to load knoppix on XBox

I figured my Crystal X-Box which I got at Christmas time would be fine. Its quite a good little system actually...excellent bargin in price too. Got lots of entertainment out of it....got lots more to go through. Still loves my Halo 2 :D

Hehe, playing through that game for like the 5th time now... Mostly because I accidentally picked up the Sputnik skull and I got tired of flying hundreds of feet when something exploded.
-
I've not played Halo 2 since about 2 weeks after I beat it...
In fact, I don't think I played anything in that time...
-
Stinks for you. :p

nah. The replay value just wasn't there... not as much as the original, IMO.

Thankfully the LAN parties make up for it. ;)

? Just restart the Xbox and all skulls are deactivated.
I beat the game on Legendary a while back. Damn that is hard.
Those bungie fellows are crazy.
I havn't played live for a while though. Should get back into that... :)

I accidentally saved and quit though, which makes the changes permanent. So I had to erase the Halo 2 files on my 'box and restart the entire game.

Uhh, no. You just have to start the first mission over again... AFAIK.

Damnit.
