Title: Homeworld Mod is hiring!
Post by: Grug on March 22, 2005, 01:42:51 am
In light of the Starfox mod posting in here, and the fact that our forums are rarely visited I thought I'd point people from here.

TAP is under new management and needs people to fill its ranks.
Check this thread if your interested:

*bump* :p

A few people have passed through here, yet no-one dares post in here.

Would a couple of NEW screens be incentive?
*dusts off the screenshot key*
Shall I?

Take screenies, sure. Your thread will fill with 'ooh, ahh that shouldn't be like that' and all that other bullcrap...

lol. Better than nothing though. :p

I need to find another build though, the one I have at the moment shows laser effects in reverse. :ick:

Could be worse. Every build I use refuses to take screenshots.

Owch. Does Print Screen work?
Or would you have to use a third party screen capture program.

I'd probably have to use a third party proggy. I press print screen, and the game will stutter, but there's never any files in the folder afterward, unless they place them elsewhere, now.

Try Fraps (http://www.fraps.com) for all of your screenshot needs. :)

The screenshot files should be placed under the FS2 directory or the mod directory as tga files, well they do for me anyway.

Speaking of which anyone know of some good (preferablly free) video editing / creation software? Something also to record FS2 ingame movies etc?

Would be handy to have, plus might be able to make some vid scenes for TAP.

BTW, in the latest builds of SCP, is the FS2 intro movie supposed to play, because it doesn't...

As Mongoose said, get Fraps. Can take screenies and record movies.

Yes but it cannot help to edit them etc.
What about the movie editor that comes with XP?
Is that of any use?

Virtualdub is good for editting, kinda.

I know that the pics *should* be in the main directory, or a mod directory, but they aren't anywhere. Odd, since it used to work. Some day I'll mantis it.

Linky?

And pfft, who uses Mantis? :p
Just winge and complain on the SCP forums until they take heed and try and fix it. :p

Hmm looks handy, but doesn't look to be a very powerfull editing tool. Might be able to gain some use out of the built in windows editor if I can use this to compile correct formats though.

Thankee. :)

Screenshots are a funny lot.  In D3D they save to the main directory as bmp, while in OGL they save to the mod directory as TGA.  At least they did the last time I used D3D.

Hmm, strange indeed.

So anyway, I'm presuming everyone who's posted here is now a member of TAP. :D

*Cracks whip*

Lets go, 50+new models and textures please. ;)

Using OpenGL by any chance? The OGL builds used to (and may still do) save their screeenshots to \moddir rather than \Freespace

I'll get some screenshots out showcasing some of the new effects soonish, I'm having trouble with FSO at the moment though... :doubt: as usual :sigh:.

Things are looking good for TAP though, it seems to be getting the new blood it needed. More lively and free-timed blood. :p
I don't want to just dump out a half-assed release though. Which means going over alot of the stuff and reworking it to be updated with the latest SCP technologies.
A small demo is planned first, so that at least something can be enjoyed by the public. :)

Hey StratComm, your free advice is plenty good enough even. You seem to have the know how on a lot of topics. :)
I guess I can still nab you via PM when questions arise. :)

Or windowed mode, which doesn't save them atall.  Guess windoze captures the keypress first.

You're welcome. It's quite powerfull for a free tool. But it comes with a few "features" that don't exactly do what i want them to do. i.e. I havent' figured out how to define how long a single PNG is shown.

But the interface is very intuitive.

:p Fixed.

I always get that mixed up of late.

When I find the time to play around with some vids, hopefully I can figure it out. If I run into any problems I'll just nag at you. ;)
