OK, a random Windoze problem for ya:
I've got some files that I can't delete. When I delete 'em (either right-click-->delete or select and press delete key), windows thinks for a few seconds and then tells me that the file is being used and cannot be deleted. Most odd. They're definitely not being used, and they're cluttering up my PC, so I want rid of them. One is a Far Cry patch, and the others are partially-downloaded files of several types (exe, zip, rar etc). Any ideas how I can get rid of them?

Have you tried restarting in safe mode?
Or alternatively, deleting them through DOS running off a bootable floppy. Windows XP can still do that, despite not running off DOS itself, right?

Try This (http://safsquad.com/Files/EndItAll2.zip), End all the programs then try deleting it.
