Title: Well, that was fun....
Post by: Flipside on March 28, 2005, 05:53:45 pm
You know Plug and Play?

It isn't ;)

Today I had to move the Broadband modem from one computer on the Network to another. Easy, one would think, you simply unplug, swap, setup the Network and Internet connections, so your old Server is now getting the Internet from the Network etc. Simple right?

Noooooooooooo!! Windows XP sees this kind of unruly and chaotic behaviour as damaging to it's poor delicate permissions sytem and yours truly has to spend half the bloody evening soothing it's injured pride so that it would actually come out of the closet and appear on my Network Places.....

:mumbles:

Anyway, rant over.

Yeah, XP Doesn't want to share files on my network, because my PC and my parents are behind a router, instead of the internet going into mine, and out to my partent's.

XP = crap.

You cannot defeat Windows through strength alone.  Only patience, a lot of good luck, and a sledgehammer will do the job.

:lol: Well, it's still working, which is a good sign, though I do wonder if the guy who wrote the whole Microsoft Networking/User Profile system was mainlining some kind of Military test drug at the time....

Well...while making all your lives miserable, Uncle Bill has actually done some other people some good - he is now the biggest charitable donor of all time - I read an article that said his money had saved over 900,000 people...

But that aside, OSX > XP in so many ways.... :nod:
