Hey guys, remember those badass ships like the Apollo and the athena? Well, is it possible, or have the old FS 1 shipsalready been made available for FS2?
-
Check the Freespace Port site, they have them all ported. Even the FS1 campaign is done.
-
One could make a mission where the Colossus battles the Lucifer.
-
Both the Colossus and the Lucifer are included in Fs2, you know.
It would be kind of a boring mission if the player didn't have anything else to do but watch, though. A good mission that does this kind of thing well is Axem's Just Another Day campaign. Loved that.

the Athena is already in FS2 retail.

The Athena is not.
The Bat, the Horus, the Herc 1, the Oziris are.

(emphasis added)
I'd hate an FS2 where the Colossus wasn't included. :)
-
I'd love it.
-
If the colossus wasent in FS2, theyd send in Alpha 1.
And all we have been through, i dont think our sheilds can handle being beam swiped by 4 sathi beamz.. + it'd take forever for a subach to take out a sahti, so.. the GTVA would be doomed more then it was.
-
6 Sobek, and 4 Deimos could effectively outmaneuver and destroy a Sathanas, or two.
Hell, maybe more.
-
*doubts it*
Those weak little cutting beams would be worthless, and the Sathanas' primary cannons CAN fire to the side, slightly. Plus, it has a somewhat powerful rear beam cannon. Not to mention a huge fighterbay.
Heck, that thing could launch cruisers.
I don't understand why the Colossus is so unpopular. It's only lame if included in user-made campaigns, like Second Great War: Part Two*.
*Worst campaign ever, how did the GTVA build 12 Colossi in a year when it took 20 years to build one?!

i got that fs1 conversion; then installed the mod to get better graphics and suddenly all fs1 ships disappeared...would it help to reinstall the fs1 conversion? or where do i get hi-res models of the older fs1 ships?
it´s kinda confusing to me to keep track of all that files....couldn´t someone pleaze put all that is necessary in a single download...or at least a list of all files?!
-
I'm assuming you're running FS2_Open and the mod for better graphics you refer to are the media.vp files (They all start with mv_ and end in .vp)
The reason the FS1 files have disappeared is because you've place the media.vp files somewhere that overrides the tables in the FS1 port.
In order to solve the problem I need to know where you've installed the fsport files and the media.vp files. Although simply making sure they are in the same folder will work it's not the best solution.
-
i have them all in the main fs2 folder...
-
bingo. If you're using FSO, then you should move all of the port-specific files into a folder called "FSPort". Then in the launcher, where it says select mod, browse to or enter "FSPort" there.
-
Thing is that having everything in the main FS2 should have worked.
Try what StratComm suggested though.
-
First of all, Hunne is correct about it being difficult to get the Port set up...IMHO there should be one VP for owners of fs1, that'll let them use the original FS1 VPs, if it's possible, rather than, well, I'm not even sure if I installed it correctly - I followed the instructions but music has never worked properly.
But back to the thread :p Try creating a new pilot. Also, if you're using a new enough build, pressing "F3" at the main hall will bring up a black screen with a few buttons in the corner. Try clicking the "show ships" button and see if the FS1 ships are listed there.
Or, go to the campaign room or mission simulator and see if the FS1 campaign or missions are listed. If they are, try 'em out.
The fact that you say "all FS1 ships disappeared" makes it sound like the VPs got installed, but for some reason the "in tech database" tag didn't stick.
