Hi all..
Have a question that needs some feed back, if you would.. I`ll take all answers into consideration, cause frankly i`m out of ideas and would not want to spend money on just my assumption.
Ok now the problem, my pc has stopped booting up, (a black screen). The fan runs when its started, but it fails to check the a: but checks both cd-rom drives, the screen stays black during this also.. I have tried bypassing the harddisk controller card by patching into the motherboard that didn`t work so I removed the battery in the hopes that it would force bios setup to run, even that failed, now i`m told my motherboard has failed :( I figure someone here has had this happen or something simular..
Help this old fart out if you may

Hmm... Since the battery removal did nothing, resetting the BIOS jumper will most likely also fail. In the immortal words of Deforrest Kelly, "She's dead, Jim."
-
RIP :sigh:
Immortal words is right :)
(edit) I`m attempting to salavge it so my daughter can use it to do her interns..
-
That happens to my PC when I overclock it wrong.
But yeah.. dead, more than likely.

[color=66ff00]The connection between the screen and the computer is good I assume?
Had an old screen light up but show no picture due to it fritzing out once. Managed to fix it so I didn't lose a screen thankfully.

So then, anyone think its the motherboard?
That I can deal with, er, so I think so anyway, hehe..
(edit) I`m posting from my new one at the moment..
-
The motherboard is actually what's most likely to have died. What type of processor is in there?
-
P 3 600mhz
Umm, how did my post get above, oh nevermind..

Ah, yes, forgot to mention this, I did disconnect the monitor, and got a lost signal dialog box so I assume the monitor is still good.
(edit) I didn`t think i`d get answers this quick. :D
