Title: GTB <No Name>
Post by: Bishop on March 30, 2005, 06:55:02 am
Mind that it is unfinished. It will still have a Medusa style tail engine, besides the already huge double wing engines. Also will host 2 or 3 turrets, 6 gunpoints (2 x 2, 1 x 2) and a huge arsenal of secondaries. This ship is intended to destroye capital ships of the Juggernaught class.

Progress of model: 70%

sweet design, but needs thicker support between the hull and the bomb bays. Also, the bays themselves seem a tad too big IMHO. But otherwise, well done

Imposing.

Albeit, I can't help but wonder how it can be rearmed with such dinky little connectors between the missile banks and hull (albeit this is also a problem with a couple of my newer ships anyways.......)

Another picture to show how the bomb bays are connected. Different then you expect, likely.

as I said, the overall design is good. It's just that the connectors between each appears to be paper thin and won't hold - especially at the speeds those massive engines are going to throw it.

Little competition. Design a thing or engine to go on the back of the ship. The winner will see it being added, as well as getting credit.

Added alot of stability to the looks. It actually looks sturdy now. A friend claimed it looks slightly Shivan. Perhaps combined technology..

Wow, pretty cool design.

I think the nose looks a bit under-detailed. Try to do something about it.

I really need to do something about my dyslexia. I could have sworn that this ship had engines, bomb bays and two pimp rays when I first looked at the picture :thepimp:

Apart from that I agree with the general consensus on here. Thicken up the connectors a little and do something nice with the nose etc.

As for the back of the ship I have exactly the same problem with my Styx class frigate. I guess if you stick the engine on pods you automatically give yourself a problem trying to figure out what to stick on the end of the fuselage :D

I'll be interested to see what you come up with

IMO, with a bit of editing, that could be a bomber. It's design reminds me sort of the SF Chimera.

It is a bomber.  Needs some bulking up, but I like it.  Quite different, but cool.

Um, GTB, B for Bomber. ;) If that's what your referring to that is... :nervous:
Edit: Beat me to it StratComm ;)

Very cool design Bishop. I likes.

I kind of like the overall design. Can I suggest that whatever you do put on the back is subtle, and not really the focus of the design...

Good work though. :D

GTB Hephaistos

The Athena was a full sprang assault bomber born of genious - ironically its forefather the Zeus, father of all assault bombers (with a true payload capacity) was made later.

The Hephaistos is born out of greed - just as the god was born of Hera's greed - of Shivan uberbombers that could single handedly cripple capships.

I know it's a bomber; I just said it looked like the Chimera.
I used SF to identify it as the fighter, not the corvette that was done by you.

I actually am well aware of the Chimera that you're refering to.  It's actually the first thing that came to mind when I saw this thread too :)
