When I posted it was 2011. Then 10 minutes later it was at 2032. Then I went to the kitchen to get a bite to eat, came back, and it's at 2034.
:wtf: :eek2:
EDIT: 2038
-
Now that's a cool thing...already have 2050 o.O
*hugs Gmail account*
-
I think its a bit unnecessary, I mean, who's gonna need 2+GB in an e-mail account?
-
looks back at people gawking at 10gb HDDs and saying "who's gonna need 10+GB in a hard drive?"
...
-
*looks back at people gawking at 120GB hard drives and people saying "Who could fill that?"*
*goes to add to his 220MB free space*
-
Cripes... yeah, I'm up to 2050 now. :eek2:
-

See? 2052. they like me more. :p

I'm guessing Google has a giant hamster that compresses everything. Hence the large mailbox sizes.
No wait. A genetically modified giant hamster.
-
Whatever.
I don't care as long as my mailbox keeps growing. :D
BTW: 2053;7
-
It's growing https://www.google.com/accounts/ServiceLogin?service=mail&passive=true&continue=http%3A%2F%2Fgmail.google.com%2Fgmail%3Fui%3Dhtml%26zy%3Dl&hl=en

Well, at least people aren't worried about postcount size anymore... :p
-
Really.. What do you do with 2 gig mailbox??
...I want one too. :sigh:

i think the giant hamster provides storage space in its cheeks, actually. It's the giant chinchilla that does compression.
-
i too have 2053 as yet... are they just putting more and more hard drives into their servers or something?
-
isnoop.net (http://isnoop.net/gmail/)
More gmail invites than gmail storage space in MB...
-
But for how long?
Yay! A Gmail invite! (http://gmail.google.com/gmail/a-78c2c3ce8-84f73a8383-653f0ce97f)

Another Another one (http://gmail.google.com/gmail/a-78c2c3ce8-0c5dc19a63-88c01a6125)
Yet another another one (http://gmail.google.com/gmail/a-78c2c3ce8-70a2d6f575-665819e2ab)
-
I have 50 invites remaining as well...
I've given up on finding people to give them to.
-
When google de-beta gmail noone will notice :D
-
Why would anyone need 2gb? I mean, emails are tiny. Unless they enable the sending and recieving of large files (as in hundreds of megabytes) then I don't see the use...
-
Thanks, Kie :)
-
I'm not using very much at all of my account, and I haven't used any of my fifty invites yet.
-
There was even a time when people asked each other "Why would anyone ever want to use a computer?"
Look at where we are today.
Gmail is the wave of the future. We will assim--err...anyway...yeah..

Same here. Still got my fifty invites left and I'm currently using 2 MB of space....and I really doubt that this will change...
-
You are currently using 42 MB (2%) of your 2057 MB.
I'm the favourite!
-
What in the heck can you put through email that would fill that kind of size?
-
I use it to email mp3's to my friends in florida :p
-
There's some who use it as backup storage for their computer.
-
I really don't understand who needs 2gb in email account
-
I do. Because I do. :p
Edit:
Actually, My GMX account is a GB also...
But that one is all spam.
-
"You are currently using 33MB (2%) of your of you 2058MB"
HAH!
I really don't have a need for that much space yet, especially with dialup...
-
I find it amusing that people are trying to impress others with there storage space when everyone has the same. :D
I remember when MSN E-mail was 1Mb.

twenty copies of fs2?
-
notice if you logout, you can see the little changing number? seems they've averaged out when new servers are coming online, and own an obsequiously large amount of hard drives...
EDIT: about to hit 2059...

That's a really funny turn of phrase. :) Perhaps you meant to use a different adverb? ;)

I am currently using 839kb out of 3000kb on my free mail account that I have had for 5 years....
What the hell are you guys putting in there? :eek2:

That's the storage space we have, not space that we've actually used. :p
-
I'd much rather have them increase the allowed attachment size than the storage space. What use is two gigs of space when you can only send 10 MB files?
-
Just out of interest what would you have increased it to?
-
I'd like to see it increased to 100-200 MB...so I can send large archives to friends instead of burning it on a CD....
-

715Mb of course. :p What a silly question.
-
do you honestly think that gmail will reserve an exact amount of 2 GB for each user? There's gotta be some sort of pool system....
-
Its about 2085MB now, you can see how high its going by signing out of gmail and going to gmail.com.
-
Yeah. I already posted about that. :p

No

Yep
Hmm 200x10MB emails , I just don't see it happening. Maybe if they increased the attachment size there would be more use for a Gmail account.
-
I've received large files over gmail. Just divide them up into small rars.

You guys are missing the point of GMail. It's to store your emails for life - emails which can then be searched effortlessly. It's not to store unindexable multiple-span ZIP files just so you can have another way to pirate the latest movie off your friend - heck, if you're that desperate, install an FTP server on your friend's machine, make a "p1r473sRk001" user, and start downloading from your computer. That way you get resumability, and your friend doesn't have to manually upload things. Sheesh.

True, but I send most of my emails to the trash after they've been read once. If I was a company it'd be different.

I prefer renting or buying DVDs btw, much better quaility and its 5.1 sound, I'm also on a 56k line.
I was thinking that if there is a larger attachment size for emails, there could be a mailing list for builds/mediavp/etc. I would elaborate more on this idea... :blah:

Uh, no. Unless there's someone with an upstream cap of over 100k/s, it'd be a pain in the ass to send. (It took me well over an hour to upload 3.6.6)
A mailing list that got updates from the SCP news would work, but you don't need a phat attachment size for that. And most e-mail providers can stomach a single EXE, as long as it's compressed.

and who's able to go 220 miles per hour in a ferrari enzo? no one, but that doesn't stop them from making the car
it's a gimmick.
-
god those Enzos are amazing
