As the topic might indicate, I have a quick modelling question. I would like to know if it's possible to import models built using AutoCAD into a freespace-compatible format? Thanks, I really appreciate it.

if you can convert it to cob or 3ds you can generaly get it into the game.
-
I don't know if anyone has ever tried it but if you can get the models into the Truespace .cob or 3DS Max .max/.3ds format I can't see any reason why not.
Even if you can't do it directly as long as you can export to a format that LithUnwrap or 3D Exploration can deal with you can do it in couple of steps.
What formats can you export in?

Thanks, I'll look into that. I use AutoCAD at work, and am quite proficient with it, and was hoping to use it a bit for my freespace obsession. I fear I don't have the cash to fork over for a copy of a more modelling-oriented program at the moment.

I can export in .wmf, .sat, .stl, .eps, .dxx, and.... oooh! .3ds! Yes! Thanks!

You'll need a copy of 3DS Max if you want to use the 3ds format directly though.
If you don't have it and can't afford to get hold of it then you'll probably have to use truespace(which is free for version 3.2) instead or make friends with someone on here who does have it.
There's more info on what programs you can use in my FAQs modding section.
EDIT : where are my manners!

I was most worried about getting a workable file format. I'll get it going.

IIRC Max and 3dEx can read AutoCad files.
