Restoration         Version 2.5.14

Google that, should get you some useful software.

If you don't know where it went there's not much way to get it back.  If it was deleted recently and you're using Windows 98, then there may be a couple of options open, but it's probably gone.  Recovering data on NTFS filesystems is not reliable, especially long after it was deleted.

Did you check the Recycle bin, and search the entire hard drive for the files?

yes  i have  checked the  recycle  bin and  no  i cant  search or go to java script  enriched  websites cuz  of a  virus i had recently

The hacker option seems unlikely, considered a rampant fool in the family doing it?

I have one.  Reformat, and reinstall.  Once you have a virus, it's all over.  You're much better off with a clean install and having to get everything over again, than running with a once infected OS.

Doesn't sound like a virus....except maybe the virus of a little brother or a incompetent parent :D
