Title: The other Freespace communities?
Post by: Blitzerland on April 07, 2005, 06:06:41 pm
I was bored, and decided to check out the other Fs2 communities. After I accomplished this, I developed a new sense of pride for HLP, and have totally forgiven the admins for the April Fool's joke.

Was Penguinbomb always such a big ol' dirtclod? Sheesh, it makes HLP look productive. That place is a load of crud, IMHO.

Anyways, other than the main Freespace communities, are there any other smaller communities out there?

Glad you like it here :)

I believe there's a Russian community out there somewhere but I'm not entirely sure... this place is certainly the last large bastion of FS activity on the internet. I honestly wish it wasn't so (and fondly remember the days of FSW, Ross 128 and a couple of others whos names escape me..).

And this time warp is really getting on my nerves.

Aw, I feel the love.

Anyway, it seems like Game Warden may be taking the stage as a major Freespace community outpost (about a dozen projects hosted; mine included ;) ).

How old might you be? 14 year olds FRED. And mod. And could probably host a better forum than the poor sap that hosts penguinbomb.

Yup, it sure is. Especially now that we've lost all hosted projects for the time being at HLP.

Game Warden is my second favorite lurking zone.

NW is actually pretty good place. Random as hell and not much gets done, but in terms of actual forums, they're pretty well run.

It's actually more of a rumour that an0n is a despotic admin. No one's been banned there that wasn't a bot in a while.

I was stripped of my moderator status, though.....

you weren't moderating anything before, really, were you? Or was this an0n getting fed up with someone and randomly spiting you?

[color=66ff00]an0n may have been banned from here but he could be both helpful and quite interesting, he freely gives his time and resources to various FS related projects.

Just because he was banned does not make it acceptable to badmouth him.

I quite like Nodewars, mainly for the sense of humour in there. Not much happens in there, but since An0n pays for his hosting himself, it's his choice to keep it open to those that want to go and a question of choice for those that don't.

Yeah, that and if anon likes you, he'll give you access to the donkey porn internal.

The three words Donkey, Porn and Internal should never, ever appear in the same sentence :p

Ehh. I don't really care. Seems I gained power at every other forum when I lost it there.

I'm a mod here, and at GW, and an admin at GTD. :p  I have my hands pretty full now. :)

How did you achieve that? Have you helped with the HTML code for them?

As for the whole Nodewar topic: I pretty like that place, especially when HLP goes down, a large number of people go there and actually post. I have to agree on that not much gets done there in the terms of hosted projects(momentarly ITHOV included). I think I will be satisfied if ITHOV gets done the soonest of all. ;)
NodeWars is not filtered very much, which makes the whole forum rather strange and deliberating. Also, for me, it looks like a good place to learn some slang.

deliberating? You people sometimes...

Oh, and I think Thunder's Russian community is really a Polish one.
