Title: Stable multiplayer setup HELP ME ! please...
Post by: Unknown_Enemy on April 13, 2005, 05:01:02 am
Hi there,

Looking back at the SCP after being away for a long time, I just finished (again) the main FS2 campaign, and I convinced a friend of mine to try it in multiplayer coop.

Here started my problems.

I installed :
Full game + patch 1.2
fs2_open 3.6.5 Installer
MediaVP 3.6.6 (mv_zpack, mv_adveffects)
C20050318.zip
multiplayer config file in the data directory
registered a pilot
launched the game, setup of multiplayer mode
launching game...

I put in the configuration LAN/direct connection.

Then most of the time, all I get is a crash to desktop. The game is almost unplayable due to stability issues.
The game crashes when retrieving the server list, or the game crashes when it starts loading. On one occasion, I achieved to actually launch a game and play it, but out of 10's attemps, that's a bit short.

Do any of you can tell me how to improve stability ?

I can only presume he means

Unfortunately, I'm not familiar with the multiplayer setup, so i can't help much with this. :(

Hey, I am not a name thief, I have been using this name in all SE4 community, and before that in the Glorious Days of Total Annihilation network games.

Still lots of crash in multiplayer...

Fs2NetD is unstable right now, tables validation is apparently broken.

Ask kazan nicely to fix it and it may get done. :p

They work for me, just extract the table files from your vp files and put them in the tables folder. It seems to circumvent the problem.

OEB? Wtf is an OEB? If you're referring to original FS freakin' 2, you can't freakin' play with it cause PXO is freakin' down.

Freakin' freak.

Old Engine Build isn't exactly a common acronym. Took me a couple seconds before it clicked.
