Setekh != single.
Fairly recently, I started going out with a girl from my church. Her name is Michelle. She wouldn't be found round these parts (not much of a gamer... yet), but I'm going to marry her one day.
Just thought I'd share. :) Oh, of course, here she is:
-
Aww.
-
Good on you Ed! Congratulations, I hope it goes well for both of you :)
-
* gasp *
Does she know you're posting her image on the internet? :p
-
Oh Noes!

Yeah Styxx, we trust you all. And you can ratify that trust by being... you know... trustworthy. :p
Vyper, that was bad, man... real bad. :p As for an "aww, cute" smiley... heh, sorry, pretty unlikely. ;)

Prayer, it would appear.

Managed to get one without prayer. Although I have been heard to exclaim "God! I need a woman" a few times so maybe I was doing it indirectly :D
-
Congrats man - and good luck with your futur together
-
Congrats on the succesful catch  ...reminds me how much it sucks to be single.

But that requires an emotional investment, which, when you think about it, is really a lot of work because at the very least, it requires you to have emotions. And that's really a big set of flood gates to open.

Better to have loved and lost?
Relationships are always a killer...ironically, not being in one I find as difficult as being in one. Need to find the right one...but I've been single far too long...
-
Join the club, Ice.

My feelings on relationships are thus:
I don't trust often or easily and, despite appearances, am intensly private. Deep down, I'm almost always wondering when "they"* are going to turn on me, and thus are always preparing for that eventuallity. Being in a relationship requires that I allow much of myself into what I feel is a public space. I am not emotionally mature enough to do this, and likely never will be. Thus I will most likely never know what you know Steak. Congratulations on this.

i think im kinda close to the engaged thing with mine, but it all comes with work, none of that **** comes easy

The problem is when you're friends with several fantastic women... who are dating friends of yours that you like and you'd never ever want to see those relationships fall apart.
...and when every single woman you wind up meeting is taken and winds up becoming a friend like that... or is single but is ultra-religious and is trying to convert you... (probably why they are single :p )
...and colleges are supposed to be havens for free thinkin' and lovin,' who would've guessed?

Thanks for the well wishes, guys. I might add, though, that both being single and being together are great gifts... the freedom to do stuff and go anywhere with no notice is a big thing you miss when you're in a relationship like this. I, for example, used that freedom to spend time with the local youth group, teach kids the Bible, go on camps with them and stuff. It's not better or worse, just different; now my time is spent building up a single relationship on a deeper level rather than many different ones. :)

You know thats EXACTLY The problems I've been having. Went from the fantastic women that I know who are just friends and will never be anything more to the other women that I try and keep tabs on but are already taken to the ultra religious ones who seemed really danged cute at the time but are totally unavailable to someone outside of their small cultural group.
No free thinking/loving in colleges...none that I've experienced. Only for a select group...and I really don't want to be those people anyways.

My problem is that I am too emotional. But i do miss having that relationship thing. Certain things are more fun when you have someone else with you.

No it doesn't. :p
Anyway, for those saying "better to have loved and lost..." should try it some time. A couple years of happiness followed by many years of pain is alot harder than simply being content with who you are by yourself. I would explain my situation in detail with depression on par with Liberator, but I already made one large post today, and I recently acquired Carpal Tunnel. So put 2 and 2 together. Besides, this thread isn't for wallowing in my own self-pity, it is for congratulations to steak. Good luck, man :).

First of all, good for you Steak!

What's funny is that by doing that, you're only making it easier for "them" to hurt you, because you'll never get the chance to be confident about the aspects of yourself that you're keeping quiet about. So you don't even have the chance to fall back on "This guy does X and he's fine" or "Everyone else I know doesn't have a problem with it" (putting them on the spot).
To be brutally honest, people are like dogs - if you don't trust them and act like you're afraid/nervous around them, they won't trust you either and will get defensive around you.
Being in a relationship does involve putting a lot of yourself out there, but it doesn't mean you're any more or less vulnerable than if you curl up into a little ball and snap at anyone who tries to get close. In one case, someone might try to hurt you; in the other, no one can be depended on to help you.
How can you have the gall to rant about how sad own life is in someone else's thread when you admit you aren't willing to take the same risks they are? You seem to have this attitude of "Well, I'm going to fail, so it's OK that I do," having never tried to do any differently. It's really not that hard to change that; find a girl that you're interested in, find out what interests you about her or something you're curious about (Unless it's her bra size or something) and ask her about it. Have a conversation with her. If she doesn't act like she's irritated at talking with you, you've now developed an acquaintance, which will make you marginally more interesting than the guy who sits in the corner and tries to keep from talking to people.
Thos're my two cents for the day.
Anyway, steak: gl hf ka dd. ;)

Best of luck. :) Can't say I've ever had a girlfriend; heck, I've never even been out on a date. :p It's something I would like to experience someday, though.
-
i just had another date. this was number two, i just hop she follows the 3 date rule:
date 1-get to know eachother
date 2-make out
date 3-****
well, we shall see next thursday
-
w00t good going steak;)
congrats:)
-
dude! darkage! what's up man, where have you been? long time no see.
-
Congrats Steak, it's always a wonderful feeling of completeness to be with somebody, and it's always good to see people happy :)
As far as partners are concerned, they say you always meet the woman of your dreams when you are least expecting it, so if some strange girl wakes you up at 3am to introduce herself, you're sorted ;)
I'm no great Romeo or anything, by a long long way, I've only had 4 relationships in my life, though all of them long term, I was terribly shy at school and could hardly even talk to girls, the only advice I can give is Learn to rely on your own opinion of yourself. People gossip and talk and giggle behind your back, it's human nature. If you ask a girl out and you get laughed at, big deal, you'll look better if she starts trying to show off and you just take it calmly and say 'Well, I had to ask, thanks', smiling and walking away. I really do mean it when I say you will be amazed at how self empowering walking away from a situation knowing that you were the one who acted like an adult is.
Lib, you really do need to try looking at your life from a different perspective, you tend to focus on your problems and percieved failings. I think you need to find some way to 'Fresh Start' things. Forgiving you for your mistakes is not a right bestowed purely on God, you have to do a little bit of it yourself, or you'll end up pushing yourself into depression.

Omg0z0r!!! It's Darkage! :D Hey dude :D
Anyway, I already posted my congrats to Setekh, but I wanted to say something to Lib: Stop putting yourself in such negative light all the time. Have you actually just tried it? Why not? It's not like you have anything to lose.
And WMCoolmon, even though it's a bad way of saying it, yes, people are sort of like dogs (I would say animals, for instance :p) :D But anyway, if you act like you're friendly, they'll be friendly to you. But if you hang at the back of the bar alone and stare unblinking at some girl who's talking to her friends, then they probably won't be too friendly :D
P.S. Kenny Logins and Danger Zone kick ass :D
-
Hehehe, i just check in from time to time:D
I could do that but then i'll be drunk every night lol. not a good thing:D

I am planning on going away from my current location, possibly permenantly. I don't want to make this harder than it needs to be.

Thanks, Flip. What you mention about least-expecting-it is pretty funny, since neither she nor I was expecting anything very much from the other. It wasn't exactly 3am, but I think I know what you mean!

To be a man
Is a terrible cross to bear!
To be suave, to be debonair!
But I'll do it
Somehow
It's time to face
My appointment with destiny!
This is what I was meant to be!
