Yo
I'm looking for a font that has calculus symbols, such as the "integral", and other things.
actually, maybe it's not a font i need, maybe it's a complete program. i need to type out some calculus equations... but i don't want to have to draw them in paint and then import the image into microsoft word.
i want to be able to do things like this:

anyone know how? any ideas? (useful ones)

install the microsoft equation editor into word. it's under insert->object, and then go find it in the list. It has a nifty little equation editor with buttons for integrals, etc...
-
It's crap, but it works. LaTex (Tex) is in general the standard for things like that, but it's hard to use. There's also an advanced version of the equation editor that you can buy, but then that costs money. So unless you're absolutely confounded by how to get Word's equation editor to work, it's probably what you're after.

i don't see it under insert>object:(

Speaking of latex, there is a WYSIWYG latex editor that has been ported to Windows. http://www.lyx.org/

Cool. Now that's useful.
Stealth: you may need to install it from disk. Oddly enough, the equation editor isn't necessarily part of a default install.

Actually just looked at word, and it's called "Microsoft Equation 3.0" in Word 2003

Oh, duh. It's been that for ages. I was assuming that Stealth would have picked that out of the linup to at least try, but then there are a lot of "Microsoft" thingamabobs in the "insert object" menu.

mathtype.

mathematica

i swear it's not in the menu :p
INSERT --> OBJECT --> "Create New" tab... right? I'm using office xp

and thx for the other two suggestions (Mathtype and Mathematica). I haven't been able to find Mathematica (unfortunately) so i've been using Mathtype and it seems to work perfectly :D

Incidentally, why is that file called 'Integra2.DEK'? ;)
-
no clue... i went to google and typed in "integral" in the image search, and it was the bottom left image. i was just using it as an example :) see for yourself:

oh. Integral
That'll do it. :p

If its not in the menu then its not installed. It's part of office though, so you may have to change your install configuration to get it in.
-
hmmmmmmmmmmk. so in the office install, you think that would be part of "tools" or "accessories" or what... cause as far as i know i just did a full install of Office. i've got office XP on this computer, and 2000 SB on my work laptop, and neither of them have the "equation" option under insert-> object.
i don't really need it, cause i've got this other program now, but i'd still like to know, for future reference :)
-
Lets see... it should be under tools I think. I've got a 2000 SB install on this machine, so I'll look it up.
Office Tools, Equation Editor. It's probably in a similar location for XP.
