Title: Halo 2 AutoUpdate and new maps
Post by: Setekh on April 21, 2005, 04:57:47 am
So, who's on Live and is getting it/them? None of my friends have Live, so I'll just have to wait for the disc to come out with all the maps on it too... probably will be waiting a few months by the looks of it. I'm pretty excited to try out the adjustments, though. :)

For the uninformed:

ITs actually not nescessarily a goodthing that there's that auto-update... That is meant to fix all holes where people can get off the map, and probably will eliminate sword glitching and sword canceling. I'm all for new maps, but not at the cost of that.

www.redvsblue.com has a walkthrough for the warlock map. Pretty cool, to say the least.

I got the auto update.
I think the tweaks are pretty cool.

Grenades are more like the ones from Halo1, they kill you in one go if your too close. Melee does way more damage as well. You can generally kill anyone with two bashes now. :D

Can't wait for the new maps. :)

I quite missed the powerful melee from Halo 1, it used to mean I could bash anyone to death and no one could dominate by holding onto all the power weapons for too long. The new maps look pretty good from the RvB walkthroughs, too. :)

Curse Microsoft for making you have to give them a credit card number to use the free month. And curse them again for not automagically cancelling the free month when it's over, but instead continuing the service and charging you from the aforementioned credit card. :doubt:

Oh well. I don't have a TV in my room, or the XBox, any longer for that matter.

How much does Live cost? and how do you hook it up?

Live costs 5 dollars a month, or you can get a starter kit that includes a full years subscription, a headset, and an Xbox Live game for $60. I myself got a free years subscription from my copy of SC:PT . However, I havn't been able to use it the last couple of months because my Xbox for some reason is not recieving the DNS server addresses from the ISP anymore... It's a moot point though 'cause the free subscription is up and i'm cancelling my account seeing as how I can't use it.

But I will get the Xpack when it comes out.

i have live, and the patch didnt fix sword cancelling, so its still posssible to fly around like a crazy maniac, but rocket/sword flying is out. Holes in the maps are still there.

My nick is Krackers87 (big surprise) if anyone wants to play.

Live is £40 for a years subscription. Halo 2 justifies this, I have played it almost every day since it came out.

The autoupdate is awesome, I just run into big battles and get killtaculars just from meleeing everyone now. Grenades are also useful now too.

The new maps ****ing rock aswell.

When the next autoupdate comes out. Presumedly within a few weeks.
Until then, your stuck with split screen and custom matches.

I don't mind that they're not on the playlists... I just need to get ahold of the disc so me and my LAN mates can install it and get system linked. :)

Yeah, I got a spare Xbox that ain't hooked to live too.

Plus the disks will have some more documentaries, and supposedly a short animated film based in the Halo universe. :)

I do wonder what the other maps are. I hope at least one of them is a large map made in the 'new mombosa' scenery. I was hoping thats what Turf would be, but its just a small skirmish map.

I mainly got Halo2 because I liked the idea of the New Mombosa level. Especially from the original footage that was shown in the E3 trailer. Hopefully they can fully satisfy my needs with a kick ass multiplayer map... :)

Well, to be honest, I was pretty deadly with dual pistols.... ;)

But I don't like having to pay to play. In fact, I hate that idea. Especially when I shell out $70 for the game, I don't need to have to pay another however much it is a month more on top of that.

$70 for the game?

And it's $5 a month.

I bought it when it came out. it was 65.00 and then tax, so yeah $70.

And 5.00/mo is still paying to use a game. Why should I play to use it, when I'll get nothing but asshats like how Starcraft's servers are?

New York. Just outside of the city. So everything is more money than it should be.
