It's the trailer for Serenity, a movie based on the Firefly series. It's a very good trailer that makes me, a non-Firefly fan (I haven't seen it), definitely want to see the movie.
I really should watch the series, but unfortunately the series takes up about 5.34GB. I need a bigger harddrive...

COOL! I've been waiting for this since the series was ended back in... 2002 was it?

Firefly?

Now why on Earth would you need a bigger hard drive to buy or rent the DVDs? :doubt:

Looks great, but I literally fell asleep during the last quarter of the trailer.
I guess it's for fans only.

hi-res.

What is firefly?

I'm afraid it doesn't really look that interesting to me.

It was a Sci-Fi series set in kind of a Western theme. The main characters were smugglers and bandits of a sorts, living in the systems outside the primary control of the ruling alliance. 2 of the main characters fought in a civil war some years before to challange the formation of the alliance, but lost. The ship they fly in is Firefly class. They have a prostitute living aboard, although its a respected profession in that culture (to those who are trained and certified, which she is). The series also had a priest riding with them as a "passenger", but I don't recall seeing him in the trailer. My favorite character was always Wash. On a slightly wierder note, a common language in this future culture is Mandarin, so they sometimes utter words in that language. They usually curse in it or exchange angry words in it, though no subtitles are provided. Its up to the viewer to either A), know Mandarin (and get past the accent), or B), infer what was said by the subsequent reactions.

I wanna say "YAY!", but I saw half of one episode and didn't really get what was going on. Wasn't there some impressively unique about that bloody spaceship?
-
well, it was a fixed up hulk that the Captain bought in a junk yard. i guess that's unique.
-
I don't remember seeing Kaylee in the trailer either.
-
I thought it was indestructable or somesuch.
-
You're thinking of the Herkimer Battle Jitney.
-
Oh yeah, I recall seeing a few episodes on late at night.
It was definitly a strange show. The western theme at first didn't really appeal to me. But the show and characters to grow on you after a while.
It can also be seen as a breath of fresh air from Star Trek etc.
A movie eh? Dunno how well that will go...

You need to watch the DVD's, they put the show in order, the problem with the TV release is they didn't start the show with the actual pilot that explains everything :)
I am excited about the movie, I like the captain, he's like Han Solo before the editing of the Greedo shooting ;) He shoots first :)
"I'm unarmed"
"Good" *BANG*
The random cursing in chinese was nifty too, and all the space scenes were entirely silent.

One of my favorite scene with Capt. Renolds was just after he won the duel on Persephonie (SP?). He's disarmed his opponent and they're all like, 'You're not allowed to humiliate him like this. Kill him and be done with it', and he's like 'its said that mercy is the sign of a great man', then he jabs the guy a few times in the stomach with his sword and then says 'well, I guess I'm just a good man', then jabs him a couple more times and they says 'well, I guess I'm OK' and walks off.

When he tosses the merc into the jet engine...

Both Kaylee and the Preacher were in it, in the scenes with all of them in the cockpit.

Cool!
