I took me a while (and $1.00), but I finally found a record for Delta Serprentis.
R. A. = 15hr34m48s
Decilination = +10deg32m21s
Color = F0, Blue Main Sequence
Distance = 27 parsecs, 88 lightyears
Might be a Binary system, but I'm having problems understanding the chart at the moment.
For reference, this comes from a book dated 1983. Should still be accurate, its the Guinness Book of Astronomy, 2nd Edition.

The real Delta Serpentis is a blurry jpg?

How many people live on that blurry JPG?

Looks like a binary blurry JPG to me...

Too bad you couldn't tell me much else buddy boy.
Anyways, there are only three stars I have yet to find any record of and a bunch I have incomplete records on.
Not Found:
Laramis
Ribos
Ikeya
Incomplete Data:
Dubhe
Gamma Draconis
Episilon Pegasi
Beta Cygni
Alphard
Adhara
Mirfak
The three Greek ones I'll have data on soon, I've just got to look them up. The rest I'm still looking on. Any links or info you can provide to the completion of my table would be appretiated. I'm looking for the info I provided on D.S. Later.

(4037) Ikeya
this was the closet i can find and that on website is classed as a minor star/planet the rest say it is a asteroid found mar 2nd about 30 years ago. hope this can help.
I gotta pick of ikeya aswell

Well considering I'm at my friends place I've decided to post a bit.
Eishtmo heres a few tips about star naming conventions you might find useful along the way. Bayer designations are all the letters in the Greek alphabet from alpha to zeta, you can also use catalogue numbers such as HD, HR, etc. There is also Flamsteed which the uses the Greek Alphabet but in a different way(eg. 16 Beta Cygni).
I hope this can be some assistance in your quest. (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/wink.gif)

Two things
1. The 3 you have nothing about don't exist under those names. I have a catalougre of over 2 million stars infront of me right now and none of them are in there. It is possible that the GTA renamed them to those names when they found them.
2. I'll get you some info on the others. Give me 20 mins to upload it.
-
Okay, i've got 210 kb of info on Alphard but nowhere to upload it. Any suggestions?

Any of the Greek ones are in the named constellation, the letter is the relative magnitude within the constellation. So Delta Serpentis is the fourth-brightest star (as seen from Earth) in the constellation Serpens; Gamma Draconis is the 3rd brightest in Draco; Alpha Centauri is the brightest one in Centaurus, etc.
A lot of these have other names as someone else pointed out: Epsilon Pegasi = Enif; Alpha Cygni = Deneb, etc.
Alphard is Alpha Hydrae.
Mirfak is Alpha Persei (or whatever the genitive of "Perseus" is, I've forgotton all my Latin)
Dubhe is Alpha Ursa Major (won't even try the Latin on this one)
Adhara is Epsilon Canis Major (ditto)

Ikeya seems to be a comet... did (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/v.gif) mess up? Unless you count the one at White Marsh Mall (sorry, that bad joke's been made already)
Ribos apears to be from an old "Doctor Who" episode (this is not a joke).
.... and all references to Laramis that I could find via google.com pointed to FS forums (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif)

Not a problem dude - just out of curiosity, where did you get all of it? I mean, that program - what is it, exactly? (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif)

It's from a program called Red Shift 4, which combines a planetarium, astronomy dictionary and picture gallery all in one.
The dictionary and picture gallery isn't anything you couldn't find online, but the planetarium is quite unique. If I remember correctly, it was the first program to make use of the full Tycho 2 Catalouge and has records for apx 18 million stars down to magnitude 20, aswell as 70,000 galaxies, 1,700 comets and 15,000 asteroids.
It's very good value for money. I got mine for £20 and by now it's down to £10 or $7.

Don't quote me on the spelling, but it's something along the lines of Alpha Ursae Majoris.

Looks like a heck of a lot of info there. I'll see if I can find it anywhere around here...

I found something on Ikeya. I Think Ikeya is a comet (full name is Ikeya-Seki) But this is the closest I could find. Take a look:

Ikeya does exist as a star. I can't remember its other name, but there my school once had this skydome thing around which was basically a picture of the night sky on the inside of a dark dome (it was pretty cool). The guy running it was pointing at stars, and at one stage pointed out Ikeya, which appears to be its secondary name. So keep looking! It is out there!

Hey, new guy here. If I recall correctly, Laramis is/was the name of the company that made the Super Soaker. I think this may be a [V] injoke, because remember that the first time that it was mentioned was when they created the Flail.

About Mirfak: I noticed on some of the FS2 command briefing cutscenes that it is actually spelled "Mirfax" with an "x", rather than a "k".
In your starcharts all of you have found, is its official spelling with the "k" or the "x"?
Did [V] make another error here?

It's Mirfak with a K. That had me concerned for a while because I was making a mission set there.

Yeah, its a 'k.' But as I said, a thead called "Stars of Freespace" is somewhere on this very forum, and it has just about all of the info you could want or need.
