What is it?
-
It's a Vasudan Can Opener? Isn't that obvious?
*runs*
-
Lol!
It's a beautiful ship. Are you accepting suggestions or only feedback?
-
All chatter is equally welcomed.
-
Wow that is one wierd looking ship, but in a cool way, looks like a Ravana,Moloch hybrid thingey. It looks Shivanish too me.
-
Nah it works as vasudan... on first impression. Maybe as an ancient destroyer? :)
-
Nifty...only looks vaguely vasudan though. Perhaps a vasudan ship's second cousin or something.
-
Well, it does look more fish-like than bug-like...
Nice design, with the right textures it will look much more Vasudan - I like the side mounted fighterbay.
-
Part Ravana, part something else...
-
It looks like one of those crazy planes the nazis tried to make in WWII
-
I was thinking it resembled Stribe design elements, from B5.
-
It's too smooth at the mo. IMO. I need to do somehting about that, I think.
-
It's a chupathingy!
Good work though
-
Sorry for stealing your image and butchering it, but imo, it looks better rotated and with a grasshopper-bridge. (looks around furtively)

looks like that ship from that one episode of b5.
-
Nice work
-
i like the curvature, i think youd be best off texturing the thing with a single 2048^2 texture.

...um, could you be more specific. I already mentioned that I think it resembles Stribe design, but perhaps I now also see similarities to Lorien's "ship". Are either of these the 'ship' you were referring to?
-
In the Freespace Modding forum, a ship either looks like one from another universe, or it looks like a penis. :p
-
yea the stribe ship, couldnt remember the name of the spiecies.
and most ships here do look slike something out of a sex toy catalog.
-
I'm not sure if the assymetry really works - the Zogs never made any assymetrical capships, closest would probably be the Maat and Satis - I think it distracts from the vasudanness.
It really doesn;t look like anything we've seen from them before.

The Vasudans only have one asymmetrical ship at all (points to Horus) but in general asymmetry plays into Terran designs much better than it does Vasudan ones anyway. Vas stuff looks organic (like some kind of really twisted turtle, actually), organic objects tend to take on a large degree of symmetry, so it works. Then you've got the Orion, which has almost no discernable centerline, and which exudes Terran design philosophy.
My thoughts on this is that it is too long and thin to be a FS fighter, and too spindly to be a capship. It looks good, just needs some bulking up.
-
But it´s different!! I like it. Nice 1.
-
Curvey!
-
I think the top view looks much like a missile\arrow... with a bit of more side "volume", it would look better IMO
other than that, groovy :)
-
migt look good as an aincients vessel.
-
I could see that being a ship from a race with pure 'ganic tech, but, either by choice or chronolgy, hasn't integrated it to the point where it replaces their older mecha-tech.
I think the main body of the ship would be organic, perhaps with some kind of chitonous hull and the only obvious tech is the crew area/command in the structure that looks like a tower. It should have a different texture than the rest of the ship. The main part of the ship should look very insectoid in it's texturing, but that one part should be quite obviously metal, possibly with just the hint that it's attached to the rest of the "organism".
-
It would probably fit as an ancients ship. They do tend to be super curvey. It would help is we knew what you intended it to be. Is it supposed to be Vasudan? What type is it supposed to be?
-
I want more speculation,
to steal ideas from to see which of you has the closest idea to mine.
-
Actually...it looks kinda Covenant now that I think about it.
-
the ship is more symetrical than it apears. is that a big gun port or a fighterbay.nont the less its the only thing thats really symetcrical about it. like it was a refit of another design.
it could be an older shivan design, like from a million years back in their development. shivan ships look like they are grown out of crystaline material. this could be from a time before they invented that technology.
another idea, hippie shivans :D
-
Wow, I really like that ship. It looks organic and very alien to me, bet this thing could actually dive underwater. Just to think of it, it could be part spaceship and part submarine. Very cool ship indeed
-
You may think me crazy, but the first thing I thought when I saw this thing was: Science Vessel, Not Terran.
I have no clue whom it would belong to, but it would do justice as a science vessel.
-
It's a bit of a bump, but what the hell - haven't been here for a while.
Very nice, Raa - definitely one to finish. I agree with the Ancients idea, though it could look vasudan if it was more symmetrical. Once again I'm jealous of your talents. :)
-
Ancients are extinct...... :wtf:
-
True. But the model isn't typical of Vasudan design (lack of symmetry), and it doesn't look Terran or Shivan. So the ancients are the only other option from the existing canon - and there may be a hulk or two kicking about in the dark corners of some systems. Unless you say it's Vasudan, in which case I'm not going to argue. :D
-
It's not very Vasudan...
-
It's a thing for the other things he's making for thingies thing.
-
No... it's not, actually.
-
I dunno, what aldo said was preety vauge and all encompassing.
-
No, I know exactly what he's referring to, and it's not Bektah.
-
You know, or you assume....
-
I know. I'm only doing one 'thing' for anyone else's 'thing'.
-
How do you no thinguies refers to someone, it could refer to somthing. It ocould be "Freespace's thing"
-
It doesn't. End of discussion.
-
Good enough for me.
But to realy properly end this discussion we'd need aldo ;)
-
i play games for the artistic value, to hell with story, in that respect the ship kicks ass regaurdless of who flys it. lets see some textures :D
