I have an AMD 2600 with a graphic card Shappire ATI RADEON 9550 256Mb.
I'm on Win Xp on high res. I set the resolution to 1024 x 768 with graphic level to high (not very high). After a while the game slows down up to a nearly stop. If I exit the mission and reenter it the game remains slowed, up to become unplayable.
What could I do? I thought that with a new PC with a 256 MB video card I could play high res with high graphic level ...

Are you using the 1.2 (retail with patch) version, or the SCP version?
-
I have the 1.2 (retail with patch) version, patched from the HotU version using instructions from Karajorma's FAQ.
Thank you

OMG I just got that card yesterday!!! I dumped my 32mb all in wonder but now I lost tv in out adn I dont know why I cant get this one's tv out to work (grrr)...
Anyway I have seen no slowdowns yet (plus I got 256 more memory) and I was about to start trying new scp builds instead fo teh old 3.6 I've been buildign the mods with...
If I see any slowdowns I will let you know (aside from the one you get when you turn to face 4 or more uber ships off screen then it takes a sec to catch up but that's normal, it gets back into normal play a few seconds later...

I have a feeling that's a known problem with the retail version & XP... unfrotunately I use win 2000, so I can't test this myself, but i think you can use some compatibility setting or whatnot ('98 compatibility'?) to fix it.

Unfortunately after the slowing due to some uber ship the game remains slowed even if I replay a trainig scenario with only one fighter!!
I've bought a costly joystick to play this wonderful game and it slows
down!

By making it go with 98 compatibility I resolved the problem.
Thank you!
