It's called deph of feild.  (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif)

And Kazan, I'm guessing it's blurry because he used bepth of feild to simulate a real picture, where one thing is in focus.

I would love to see this rendered with the station in focus, and the ship blurred.
