I know many people here have been playing FS2, making campaigns, posting at HLP and generally making a ruckus for 5 or more years now.
How about you?
-
where the hell have you been?
I've played FS1 back online since 1998. That'll make it 7 years.
-
I've been all over the place.. I'm not necessarily back, either. But hi!
And I started playing in 1999, but I haven't for about a year. So 7.
-
Playing FS - since the game's release
Making campaigns - never finished the pityful attempts I try
Posting at HLP - see registration date below
EDIT: Seeing the post asks only how long you are involved with FS2, I'd have to say... almost 6 years
-
I've been playing FS1 ever since it came out 7 years ago, back in 1998. And I've been playing FS2 ever since it came out 6 years ago, back in 1999. As for the forums, well, I lurked around the VBB and HLP for a couple of months, but was driven to here permanently when VBB went down. Too bad. :D
-
Apparently, I've been around HLP since 2001. I know that I lurked at least a year before that in VBB and various other places, and I played FS1 roughly 1/2 years before I got FS2, so that would make it....
5,5 years. Wowee
-
Too bloody long by far............
-
LOL Same here, I played FS1 on an old 3DFX card when it came out, so I've been around Freespace for about 7 years. Only got into modding it about 3 years ago though :)
-
late 98, early 99 i got involved with FS1... sooooooo say 6+ years

Add a 'waaaay' to the begining of that sentence for me. :sigh:
-
Played the first demo in 98
-
I got FS1 about two years after it was released...FS2 some indeterminate time later.
-
I got my first pc in '98 and it came with a copy of FS1 but it took me a good year to start to really get into gaming so 6 years playing, but I just found the HLP last year.
-
About six years for me :) Picked FS2 up just by random choice (it looked cool) - the rest is histroy.
-
Got FS1 about five months after it came out. FS2 about the same.
I've been making campaigns only within the past two/three years, but multiplayer (especially FS1) for a while (four/five).
-
Played the demo of fs1 when it first came out and have been playing it on/off since then.
-
December 1997...
First website (FreeSpace Command) was online by February 1998.
-
I have a lot of posts for being here for half a year!
-
Playing since 99.
-
I just have to admire you guys' commitment. Every post on this forum helps keep FS2 alive. Kudos to you all. :)
-
FS2 since 2000.
FS1 since 98/99.
-
chuck me in for 5.5
-
Man, I never thought about the question till you mentioned it...
Began in my first year of high school, which was 98, so that makes it 7 for me.
-
ive been around sence freespace 1 :D
and modding just as long
-
I have probably been in FreeSpace for 6 years.
I registered at HLP in November, 2002, but I had a problem with my account and asked an admin to delete it, so I could re-register. This is the reason you read 'Registered: February 2003
I started FREDing after finishing the main FS campaign, but the first publicly released campaign came on the 6th July, 2003(Pimp (http://mods.moddb.com/2704) :thepimp:)
-
Since it first came out, back when I was called Iceman... heck, that was before Thunder even came to be.
-
But...but... there was no life before Thunder! :p
-
Eh about 1 year after fs1 came out (late bloomer) so make it 7 for me.. came to hlp late also, like march of 2002
-
A looong time...
-
About 5 years ago I played a demo of FS2 on some "100 bestest games EVAR" magazine CD. Was lucky enough to get the last copy a store had about a week later - it was some dual pack thingy with Descent 3 also.
-
Six years ago when I got Freespace: Darkness Rising with a Dell computer.
-
I got FS2 in the summer of 2000 and lurked around the VBB for a while then lurked here then joined a couple years ago.
-
7 Years, couldn't stop playing FS1. Then I got FS2 when it came out in shops so was hooked and I still am :)
-
How I came into freespace hmmm... It came with a joystick I bought. I used my überintellegent reasoning skillz to figure that if there is a FS2, then there must be an FS1, (I know, I'm just so smart it scares me.) I then found out a few months later that Silent Threat existed. Bought FS1 and FS2 on E-Bay for about $70 each but I only paid $5 for ST.
I soon used fred 2 to complete a campaign complete with 30 of the n00biest missions you can dream of. By the time I finished it, I didn't know that the WV archives were totally defunct and I tried for days and days to post it there. :sigh: When I finally found out that the boards had closed down and WV was totally dead, I was devestated. After a few hours of site hopping, I came across Sectorgame. I lurked in their forums for a bit and learned that there was a much larger "central" forum for Freespacers which happened to be HLP. I lurked for about a year or so. My n00by missions were lost due to a HD crash. I cried for hours, but looking back I'm glad it happened. Now I'm working on a brand new project [p1mp] it's called Relentless. No n00by missions in there! Linky to the page is in my siggie [/p1mp] After a seemingly loooong time, I finally registered. I'm glad I lurked for a while because I got to learn about the forum culture and the frequent visitors. So yeah, thats where I'm at today. :)

I am still constantly amazed at the fact that new people keep finding HLP. It's great having you folk around.

Thanks! ;)

About 5.5 years here. I got FS1 (Full DVD version) as part of a bundle package (along with Baldur's Gate on DVD) with a Gateway computer we got. Probably got FS2 about a year or so later. Started posting here and at the VBB just over five years ago.
-
I bought the original game in '98 though I've been following its development since '96 and played my brains out on the demo in '97.
BTW Does the name Mahabarata ring any bells? :thepimp:
-
Poking my head back in.. it has been a while, and many many years.
-
Indeed.
-
:necro:
Welcome back, Alikchi. :)
