I heard from a little birdy that part of Halo 3 was developed at the same time as Halo 2, and that it is currently in the beta stages of bugtesting and glitch-fixing. Texture loading times are being killed, and texture sizes and detail have been increased.
-
Yeah I got that of a website a few months ago, the part about Halo 3 being made at the same time as Halo 2.
-
Doesn't surprise me too much. Just more hype if you ask me though.
-
lol! More hype... Riiiight...
The person I got the info from does Playtesting for Microsoft... Technically he's not supposed to talk about it at all.
-
So... you're trying to get your 'friend' in trouble, huh? Good going.

Halo 2 was notorious for a somewhat abrupt ending, wasn't it?
-
As long as its good i dont give a flying **** when it was developed

Extremely. Many thought that the series would end in the 2nd iteration.
@Raa. Have I said that persons name?
-
Mind, I still put Halo2's ending and story well, well above Half Life 2's.
-
Half Life 2 had a story?
-
AYE YA!
*Flying kicks Aldo*
...Half life...has a plot...play them together and you might figure it out...
"In the mean time..."
NINJA VANISH!
*Corhellion exits stage left*
-
Half life 2 didn't have a plot. It had a scenario, a series of pretty locations and an explosion.
-
Halo 2 had the same, but with confusing cutscenes and character switches in the middle too. Sorry. :)

Except that they weren't confusing....
-
Yes, but many people felt that they betrayed the main character by playing his nemesis... (this does not include me, I loved playing as the Arbiter).
-
I actually wish the entire story was from the Covenant POV sometimes... :nervous:

Considering the Chief and Arbiter A: never fought and B: worked towards essentially the same goal, that sounds rather stupid, don't it?
-
I was a little upset, to be honest, that none of the Arbiter levels involved slaughterring Terrans. But I guess that'd really piss off alot of the fan base.

and at least the cutscenes didn't take over the game
See: Metal Gear Solid 2

It would have made the ESRB rating a lot more difficult, too.
-
Whats funny about Halo 2 is that the limited edition case back talks about Master Cheif coming across a billion light years to save the dearest price of all... Earth, and yet THERE WAS ONLY ONE PITIFUL LEVEL ON EARTH!!!
I guess they released Halo 2 in the wrong box.

Why is killing aliens any better than killing humans? Murder is murder.
-
Um.... The first 3 levels were on Earth. The point was that the player was not expecting to leave Earth so soon.
-
He does come back... in the last cutscene...
-
I know but its not a level its just that... a cutscene. And wasnt there something during E3 of last year about Halo 2 being focused primarily on Earth? Guess that one went out the window... or put on hold to prolong Xbox's flagship series a little longer.

Halo 3??? I´m still waiting for a PC conversion of Halo 2...
Damn those console elitists.
-
I found a great compromise... i bought this thingy that integrates my monitor and my sound system with my xbox. It sits on the desk and with a switch i can choose which device i want to use. That way i dont know the difference and it saves alot of time waiting for conversions :)

I'd advise against holding your breath in anticipation.

Yeah, i know.
Just out of curiosity, is there a way to play an Xbox game on a PC? Like, is there an emulator around?
-
Google is your Friend (http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=Xbox+Emulators&btnG=Google+Search) ;)
-
Or you could grab a keyboard/mouse converter for the Xbox...
-
's usb. Find a USB keyboard and mouse, and use them :p

Take it up with the people who write the codes for classification. I remember reading it in a Weekly Update that humans was a big step from aliens.
Ah, I found it. July 30, 2004:
[q]So why am I going to Europe, you probably asked about a minute ago? Well, the game has to be certified for sex, violence and mild antics by European censors. In this case, the Video Standards Council in Borehamwood, near (allegedly) London, and a German outfit known by the catchy title, Unterhaltungssoftware Selbstkontrolle, or USK for short.
...
The VSC was totally unconcerned with the murderization of Covenant forces. Apparently, if the game didn't allow you to turn on your allies, we'd have gotten the UK equivalent of a PG, regardless of the galloons of alien blood we had flooded the Galaxy with. Britain is now completely unconcerned with bad language, as I discovered watching BBC TV in the hotel that night. Just as well, since every other word out of our game seemed to be bastard., ******* or bull****.
I did point out that technically, you can kill tens of thousands of Grunts, Elites, Brutes, Jackals and "others" while playing a typical game. "No problem, as long as they don't look human," said one of the chaps.
As I liberally coated every surface of New Mombassa with human blood just to show it could be done, the two fellows hummed and hah-ed, but clearly knew exactly what they were doing. Just as I was explaining that you could continue to blast corpses after they'd fallen, but that they wouldn't move, an animation bug kicked in and caused the poor cadaver to twitch horribly, whether I blasted him or not. It has been fixed.
In the end, after seeing tons of game, checking out a few very shocking twists, and finally agreeing that it was not in your best interest to kill all your buddies, they let us squeak by with a UK 16 rating, thanks to blood, swearing and violence.

That's pathetic.

dud3! halo 3? sw33t!
(notice the fsdoc quote ;))
-
*BLAM*
...let's try this again...
...Halo is nothing compared to the awesome power which is Half-life...For one...HL has the biggest and widest storyline I've seen...(HL1 had 2 expansions and HL2 is getting one too...fairly soon too! :))
*Shrugs*
...I just like HL better...Halo was more..."Shoot! Chuck 'Nades! Drive around! Shoot Some more! Chuck more 'nades! And follow the arrow to where you're supposed to go!" Half life on the other hand...Had more of a plot then, "Shut down Halo or we're fuXored!" Sure Half-life had a similar plot device, "Kill Nahilith to stop all the **** happening at Black Mesa...OOPS! So Solly! You just fuXored the world by doing that!"
And Half-life 2 picks up after that...And Halo didn't have that many puzzles in it...just kill things to trigger events...
*shrugs again*
...I'm done...off I go again...
-
Yeah, Halo was never really about puzzles. More about cool encounters... to each his own.
-
Indeed :)
...*edit* This is after Steaks post...fecking time warp...*/edit*
-
Halo was all about "moments." Like the time you managed to pin a grenade to a grunt who ran into a large group of mean invisible elites and promptly exploded. :D Or the time that you managed to hijack a banshee and promptly destroy everything with it.
-
Has anyone heard of the mouse/keyboardcombo for the Xbox? Can you use it with Halo 2?
*thinks of completely obliterating the console players with super-precise mouse sniping :D*
-
i think you could, if you cross some wires. just ask Raa ;)
-
Actually, a company made a mouse/keyboard adapter for the Xbox, I think it's called the Smart Joy Frag or something.
-
Halo 3 is slated for release in spring 2006
-
What are you basing that off? The PS3 release date?
-
I've read spring 2006, myself.

Bill Gates told Time magazine that Halo 3 will be released at the same time as the PS3, which is slated for Spring 2006.
-
That's what I thought. Still, silence from Bungie. I'll get excited when I hear it from them, to be honest...
-
Ditto.
I'd wait for Bungie to make the announcement first.
Hopefully a new feature is gibs and dismemberment. I wanna see Chief punch a jackels face in. :p

no, it was in time magazine. They had this big article on Xbox 360
