Just curious.... Would it be possible to have a nebula field that you could fly in and out of.... Like in the movie of Battlestar Galatica Reimagined... Where the fighter was able to get to the edge of the nebula.... This would also allow for an atmosphere feel for close orbit battles.... I imagine it could be possible either using a similar asteroid field type plot, or 3d geo grid plot... It may take time to do, but would be very much worth while.... Please let me know the possibilities to this! Thanx in advance!

it is on the back burner for the time being.

I think it works very limited with glowpoints.
Well, I think it *could* be possible with semi-transparent glow maps too. You could use the lod system this way. Otherwise the performance will be very bad...

Any physical explanation why this should exist?

****s and giggles.
Not to mention the gameplay possibilities; hiding from enemies in a nebula - or being ambushed by those from it - is a good example IMO. Also perhaps missions set in low orbit of a gas giant.

best example.... mutara nebula from ST2... or if you plan correctly low orbit battles next to planets... numerous possible tactical ideas come to mind... plus if you see ep III of SW then that gives you few ideas of what could be taken advantage with this idea
