I just got Guild Wars yesterday. I'm wondering how many of you are playing this and if there are enough people, why don't we make an HLP guild? It probably wouldn't be a huge world-conquering guild but it would still be fun to have a presence in the game. My character in the game is named David Hawk, look me up if you want.
-
Already joined a friends guild. Right now we are trying to aquire enough resources to build a guild hall....man thats a *****. My sn is 'General Rommel'
-
Hmm...sounds interesting...I zhave to buy this game soon..
you say it's free?
-
no monthly fee :)
-
Don't think it's out in europe yet, tho. I'm curious about it; it'd be nice to actually play an online game with people I know (even if only in the vaguest sense), even if the inevitable result is humiliation.
("You were killed by a newt?! You daft bastard!")
-
It is out in Europe. The three areas that tend to vie for the Hall of Heroes are Korea, Europe, and the Americas.
On an HLP guild, I might have joined it if I hadn't already joined my friend's guild. Lvl 12 Warrior/Necro here...
-
'tis?
Last shop I was in had it on the 'coming soon' list.
-
I had been told it is instanced based instead of a perpetual world like WoW, and that parties are limited to 8 people. If this was untrue, I will likely pick this up.
-
How it works is that the main cities/meeting areas have everyone linked together in multiple servers, and you can hop servers at will. Once you get out into the "real world" as it were though, you and your party members are basically transferred to your own tiny server. No interaction with other players other than your party members while you are questing.
There are also special zones for PvP combat.
-
Guild created. :)
The name is simply Hard Light Productions and our tag is [HLP]. Now I'm working on getting custom capes.
EDIT: I think they'll look like this
(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v458/redsniper7/HLPcape.jpg)
I picked the hammer and anvil because it seemed to go with productions and it could also symbolize the HLP Hammer of Justice.
-
Can you import images?
-
Sadly no. :(
I really want to see that flaming octagon on a cape too.
btw, we don't have the capes yet. I have to pay for them or earn them or something. I just barely scrounged up enough gold to form the guild.
-
Doubt it. They'd probably have complaints about questionable content if they did.

Figured as much.
might buy it, then - depends how many people in the UK (or indeed general european area) play the thing, there's not much point if they're all American (lag & time zones).
-
Bumped for great justice.
-
Hmm.. a friend of mine has gotten a pirate version...
Wonder if it would work normally in MP???
I could save a pretty penny by copying it.... LOL
-
I havent heard of anyone actually pirating this game yet. Since you need a unique key to install the game, log on and create an account it seems highly unlikely that anyone would be able to pirate it. There is no single player mode.
-
The client itself is actually free, I think. There's a download link on the site. What you're paying the money for is most likely the account and the CD.
-
so everyone here who has Guild Wars has already joined another guild, and everyone who's interested in the guild is afraid to buy the game?
-
Well, I don't know of a single person within a local time/phone zone who plays it, so I've no intentions of buying it at the moment.
-
Your friend who pirated it is an idiot, the client is free.
;)
Look me up in game, already on a guild, but always looking to play with cool cats:
Arrack de Asante
Level 20 R/N.
Capes cost 2k, Guild Halls cost about 30-40k if you buy the sigil, more depending on who is selling sigils.
We got our sigil in trade, so we have a cool guild hall :)
-
Anyone tried it on 56k???
Does it work well (if it doesn't, then I shouldn't even bother)
-
Works quite well for me, with a slight amount of lag in cities.
-
Anyone willing to give my guild a good deal on a sigil?
-
My guild hasn't bothered with getting a Guild Hall. What do you really do there, anyway?
-
Crap...Game still hasn't hit the stores in Croatia.....
-
Hey! I heard this game has only 20 levels???
Doesn't that mean you'll reach the cap rather quickly compared to other on-line games that have 99 levels?
So what am isupposed to do after i reach the cap? Make a new charachter?
-
Good. Finally an online game that at least pretends to respect users' time.

Easy, they make it so level doesnt really matter that much when your building your character. You can either play 4 hours or 40 hours but your guy will probably be about the same if you halfway know what your doing.
-
exactly, skills matter more than levels.

Play.

Is HLP guild still up? I just got GW today and wondering who to contact to get in?
-
Oh it's still up. It's a mighty Guild of One⢠at the moment. Contact David Hawk to join but be aware that I won't be playing on Mondays and Tuesdays and certain weekends due to custody laws :ick:
-
^^ actually nevermind that. I'll probably be on this evening.
-
My computer is broken so I probably won't get around to playing for a while. If anyone is still interested in joining just put me on your friends list and keep an eye out for me.
