When you played FS2, what was the most impacting command briefing for you? I mean what made you actully feel sorry for the GTVA or made you rush with adrenaline when you heard it?
Mine would have to be the feel sorry one, I couldn't help but feel sorrow for the GTVA when I heard this statement:
"With over one hundred thousand casualties and more Shivans incoming, we have no hope of holding Capella."
-
DIVE, DIVE, DIVE!!!!HIT YOUR BURNERS, PILOT!!!
:D
EDIT: Oh, you said command briefings. Still, that was the most adrenaline pumping message in all the game.
:p
-
I can't remember a single line of briefing text, actually.........
-
"Alpha 1, meet the Colossus, the largest space faring warship ever constructed!" (or something like that)
*stares in awe at the 6km ship*
I still remember the first time I played... ;) :p
EDIT:
DAMN
probably, the message about 80 something sathanas orbiting the capella star and more incoming.
-
The Bosch monoloques I think, they were the most dramatic.
-
I'm with aldo. The command briefings... I probably skipped through most of them. They bored me :p
-
Welcome to the 242 Suicide Kings, pilot!
-
I don't remember any Command Briefings, but I do remember when I met the Ravana and Sathanas, thinking, "Jesus ****ing Christ, this thing is gigantic" while banking out so I wouldn't become bug splatter on a Shivan window while reading (HotU Version) the chatter
EDIT: Oh yeah, that briefing just before the first incursion with the Shivans in FS2, all I could think was "Not again"
-
I still like Petrarch's last monologue, especially the inclusion of the Hamlet quote. Robert Loggia was really perfect for that role. I'd also second the "no hope for Capella" briefing, as well as "this is our Alamo," although I can't remember exactly which briefing the latter one was from.

Those two are actually from the same 'briefing' - the first and last lines, respectively, of Petrarch's chapter summary right before Their Finest Hour.
and yeah, that one was the best.

Someone find that quote (alamo one) and pop it in their post please.
Most of the game was.. impacting to me, first few times. I have not played regular campaign in a while so im not sure.
Il 3rd the capella one.
I did feel sorry for the GTVA in many points in the campaign. Oh, and.. the vasudans, i alwasy feel sorry for them. Their home planet glassed.
Our exodus from capella, the largest one sence sol(?), gone wrong, with 80+ sathanis's and loosing over half of them, 100,000 casuilties.
-
CAPELLA HAS GONE SUPERNOVA!!!!
-
"This is our Alamo pilots. We hold them off here or die trying."
-
Probably the briefing on the Knossos; I remembered well the ending of FS1 and Earth being cut off. The Knossos came completely out of left field for me: the multiple Sathanas juggernauts at Capella didn't.
-
Yeah, being cut off sucks.
Just think if all the head campaign makers, and freders and moders, after finsihging their projects, came togeather to make a HLP made mega campaign, to keep the {V} style of fs2, and make one that most of us conciter.. the next fs. So we can all have answers fufilled, and new questions to ask.. like returning to earth. Is it glassed or are they ok?
Man..
-
You want the community to make FS3? Man, that can't be enough discussion about it.

I didnt say it :P
@Topace: Well just have a few top head storyline guys in HLP have the full and final word. Like 3 decide on the fate of it. That way no 'fan' suggestions would b taken so thus no dam riots.
+ id wrathe rnot know what way the story goes when i play it, like if we get Everything we want.. then itd not b as real..
but yeah, would be a cool thing, cauze then thers room up to FS6..

Hmmm... I thought Inferno was the closest we'd ever get to a FS3alike. What changed?
-
"Sorry - you've outlived your usefulness as a deep cover operative, pilot."
The way it was stated, I was expecting the GTVA to turn on me.
-
Gotta be Cordova. "Welcome to Epsilon Pegasi, pilots."
You know what? I'm going to put Cordova Sr. into ETF as a cameo character. Just to have an excuse to do the voice. :P
-
"*Chuckles* We're not called the Suicide Kings for nothing, pilot."
But the best lines ever:
"Cappella has gone supernova! Cappella has gone supernova! All pilots, return to the jump node and engage your jump drives now!"
followed by...
"Disengaging for repair!"
-
Wow Grimloq, even for the AI, that's low
-
That was originally by Goober IIRC.

Funny Coincidence.

"Rear Admiral Koth is somewhere in this system. He will not commit the Repulse unless it's absolutely necessary. Your job is to create that necessity."
Don't know why but I just love that line :D
-
This is Lt. Commander Cordova, Leader of the 142nd Suicide Kings.
Welcome to Epsilon Pegasi Pilots!
-
Epsilon Pegasi? How is that impacting (no offence)?
-
The way it was said, mostly.
You were now in the suicide kings going into fricking Epsilon Pegasi where not just a few minutes before, Petrach had been briefing us on how Koth had gone on a rampage, and we were being sortied to help him.
That, and the way he said it...

I notice that mission brief describes destroying the NTC Outrage....subtle dig, perhaps? :D

I'm with them. I loved the squad leader of the Suicide Kings. A lot of the things he said just stood out. He was quite a character.
-
 of course
I must get a new microphone. My old one broke... it just wouldn't be Cordova without voiceacting. :D
