Title: Talented Texturer Needed!
Post by: Boomer on May 23, 2005, 02:32:01 pm
I just finished my first presentable model and need someone to texture it for me.  Either that or someone can tell me where I can get a decent version of Truespace...

If you're interested, just give me an E-mail address and I'll send you the .DXF.  I have no screenshots so it's no obligation until you decide to texture it.

It helps to atract possible texturers, if you first post a screenshot of your work.

How? *Hides Face in Shame*
I don't even know how to take screenshots in Blender or TrueSpace 3.2!:sigh: :sigh: :sigh:

Printscreen.

Then Control V into Paint shop Pro or Photoshop or whatever you have. Then save as Jpegs, upload somewhere and post the link to the image.

Ok, here we go.  I had to do this the quick and dirty way so the pictures aren't that great but they'll due for the purpose.

I now leave my poor model to everyone's... tender and caring sensibilities.

It's good for a first, but it's really basic. I'd texture it on your own to learn how (because it's so simple). :) People are usually pretty busy, and texturers are hard to find, so you're not going to have much luck getting one to texture such a basic model.

All right, but where can I get a decent version of TrueSpace?
The best I have to work with is the v3.2.
Does anyone know where I can get something a little more up to date?

TS3.2 is basic but is good enough to make some damn fine models. Or you can switch to another modeller. Check the modding section of my FAQ for a list of commonly used ones (Some of which are free).

It needs a little more detail. As of now, it looks good, but sort of like it was made out of origami. ;)

the best piece of advice i can give you is make your own textures. they will suck at first but in time they will improv, same as your modeling. also its easyer to learn texturing and uv mapping while your models are still relatively simple. the last thing you want to do is become a master modeler and not know how to texture. when you designt a model it is essential to take uv mapping and texturing into account. otherwise you end up with a reject model that has frustrated you to the point it endsup in a model dump somewhere.

also if your looking to 'aquire' a better version of ts, id go with 6, it has all the uv mapping tools you will need and a somwhat usefull uv editor.

Thanks for the info and input.  I'll give it a shot. (You won't hear from me for a while...:) :) :)  )

And don't rip on it for being simple.  Occam said it best:

The simplest solution is usually the right one.

once you know and master how to make a simple design i assure you more complex ones will follow, thats pretty much how ive progressed.
