Heh...been busy lately modding KOTOR2...
(http://img130.echo.cx/img130/6730/commando1qa.th.jpg) (http://img130.echo.cx/my.php?image=commando1qa.jpg)
but anyway, I'm now trying for something new...
How do you guys like this concept?

While you still need to invest more polys in the smoothing detail, I can honestly say that this is a great improvement for you TrashMan.
Now if we can just get you to start adding some vertical variety... ;)
-
It's a concept..with all smoothing turned off...
So it's not really representative of the final product, it's just there to give you an idea of the basic direction I'm aiming for..
and yes..i like flar ships...

It's nice to see you still take criticism the same way :p
Trashman, honestly, if you don't know by now that I know what a faceted model would look like properly smoothed, you've missed a lot. I actually prefer it off so that I can see geometry, and I'm just commenting on the geometry I'm seeing. No amount of smoothing will get rid of segmentation on edges, for instance. And an 8-sided cylinder will ALWAYS be an 8-sided cylinder, so concept or not there are issues with the overall form. Anyway, I'm not getting back in to this with you; I'm trying to comment on an overall aesthetically pleasing design while still offering some feedback. Take it or leave it, I don't care.
-
Actually...it's not 8-sided...it's rather 14-sided :D
-
The engines, duh. And 14-sided is, again, too few IMHO for a ship that's supposed to be "round".
-
That ship is vaguely Hiigaran...
-
Too flat, but could be nice...
-
Did I say it was supposed to be round?
I imagined it as a cross between a Clamari cruiser (completely smooth ship) and a imp destroyer (completely blocky) somewhat...so that would give it a half-rounded look, wouldn't it?
Noe I can make it completely smooth (I tried wit hthe front section to see how it would look), but I'm not sure if I want to stick with it..

Hey trash, have you been able to access lucasforums lately?? I haven't
Sorry for the little derailment

Want more? No? Now sit an behave!
@Raven2001 - Lucasforums have been acting up lately..
-
uh huh......
-
Well, I like it. It has a great deal of potential.
-
Looks like a Vasudan command carrier
-
Doesn't look at all Vasudan in any way in my opinion - it's got far too many straight lines, and a very traditional battleship-style flying bridge.
Any updates Trashman?
-
Not yet...I kinda keep switchiung things I work on every 5 minutes.
You wouldn't belive how many done models (not textured, but otherwise done), allmost done models (allmost completely textured and set up for exporting and everything) I have on my HDD...
If I REALLY dig in and work, I could finish all 40 of them... LOL
EDIT: One more thing - the reason why I'm not in a particular hurry to finish either the ships or my campaign is that I have nowhere to host it anyway....
-
Raa's got a link for something in his sig - check it out...

obligatory post. ;)
