File:E:\Languages\Visual Studio Projects\Visual C++\fs2_open\code\graphics\gropengl.cpp

I am using an ATI Radeon 9800 Pro with latest 5.5 Catalysts.

The game does not run in D3D or OpenGL.

how can I fix this? I dont downloaded v 3.0 and upgraded it to 3.1 from the website.

Thanks for the help :)

you need SCP releases for TBP IIRC

Either there's a bug in fs2_open and it does not recognize OpenGL version correctly, in that case try latest fs2_open build from SCP forums.

Try this one:

This did not make much sense to me either.

Doesnt say anything about that on the website...

Question: What exactly do you mean by stand-alone?
Answer: The Babylon Project will use the improved FreeSpace 2 engine by The Source Code Project. Also The Babylon Project stand-alone will include the minimum required files from FreeSpace 2, so you're able to play The Babylon Project without FreeSpace 2 installed. Original FreeSpace 2 campaigns or other mods however will not work, unless these other mods have been specifically made by remaining FS2 files in mind.

Just done it.. still the same thing. Game doesnt load under d3d or opengl still..

the FS2_Open release loads fine under normal FS2, but it is worth noting it crashes on EVERY single build ive tried on certain missions, could be the same bug applying to this. Either way, its annoying me and there doesnt seem to be any way around it.

Did you make sure you ran fs2_open_T-20050526.exe and not the original fs2_open_r.exe?

Yes. although it no longer brings that error up, it still crashes.

I managed to fix my FS2 problem by disabling music (though who knows why it would crash cos of that.. latest audio drivers etc)

but Babylon still does the same crash, disabling sound has no effect :(

so im stuck on this still.

Have you tried the FS2 configurator before launching.  Sounds like a hardware/software conflict.

Is the error still the same as in your first post?

Is "configurator" a real word?

OK ill start again as some things have changed.

Using the latest build of SCP, i no longer get the GL error message, but the game still crashes-

I have tried with default FS2, sound off, everything on, but the game will not run. (Obviously using the "Configurator")

When i click run game, I get a black screen for a moment and then the normal WindowsXP error message, which is absolutely no use whatsoever.

if i use the debug version from the latest SCP build i get:

Assert: Web_cursor_bitmap >= 0
File: U:\src\cvs\fs2_open.testing\code\Graphics\2d.cpp
Line: 1335

Call stack:
------------------------------------------------------------------
    game_init()    WinMainSub()    WinMain()    WinMainCRTStartup()    kernel32.dll 7c816d4f()
------------------------------------------------------------------

I dont know if that means anything or if the debug version even works here.

Its worth noting that SCP runs absolutely fine on FS2 (with music disabled)

*edit
im about to reinstall it piece by piece.

*edit2
Its working on the plain install, default settings, with no missions or the patch, though i did have a crash when i first made the pilot.. gonna patch it and put the missions in now

*edit3
Got it licked. I installed the 3.1 patch, and this causes it not to run at all, with the same error. I will remove the patch and try to play without it.

The Minbari War demo was a demo for TBP that was released with R1 of the mod. Sadly there is no more planned.

That said if someone converts Tales of EAS Janus to TBP v3 then there will be :)

Forget the workaround, it is for Release 2. Download and install Release 3.
