So about fanfiction. Seeing as how partially I'm mostly bored (that and my own projects are getting themselves underway) and that the community might benefit, I started thinking of a community project.
I was thinking of starting a piece of Freespace fanfiction written by various members of the community. The idea is simple enough: several writers do their own chapters, maybe centering around one of their own characters, set in the Freespace universe at one point in Freespace history or another, and then form their individual stories into one.
Simple enough idea? Yes. The undertaking? Not so easy.
This would take at least two or three people minimum who would be willing to devote plenty of time to writing, along with significant organization.
Any comments/takers?

Hmm...talk to me later this week, once my current writing project is ground out...

That sounds interesting. I'll have my 6 week university break starting in seven days, I'd like to be involved.

we have some talented writers in community like Singh, Uknown Target and others. Just look in the art forum, besides you should post a thread about this there.

I would be willing to come aboard, if I had the time. However, writing for my current work is pretty tough right now, so I'm afraid not.
Good idea though - I look forward to what may come of this :)
Good luck

You got that part right. NHOL was both and worse than that. And it was a lot of fun.
Some tips: If you want some overall event, make sure you spell it out for everyone participating, in detail if possible. The more they know, the better the pieces fit together.
Be ready for people to simply drop out at random times. Even the most dedicated may bolt for any number of reasons. Figure this way: If the person has a long, involved plot that's well intergrated and vitally important to the story, they'll leave half way through.
Talk to all the authors, a lot, repeatedly. Make sure you all know what you're writing and where you are going with it.
Finally, the best way to keep people's interest is to keep posting. Once a day, every day. Otherwise it sort of scrolls off the page and disappears. Of course, this assumes you post it directly into the forums, otherwise it doesn't matter much. The other tips apply though.
Good luck, you're gonna need it.

Moved. Do yourself a favour, and listen to Eish - he knows what he's speaking about.
