I stumbled upon this the other day and thought some HLPers would be interested in it. Modo's a professional 3d modeling application (http://video.luxology.com/article/113004_1/Citroen_C4.mov <-- This commercial was made using modo) that has a free evaluation version available. I hear that it was developed by former Lightwave developers.
This is what the site says: "The production evaluation provides complete access to modo, including over 2 hours of integrated video training materials. With no restrictions, users can download and try modo in production to experience the speed and flexibility first hand."
Get it here: http://www.luxology.com/modo/eval/

Holy sh*t! This will really help with cutscenes!
-
I've heard about this. it's supposed to be the linux to lightwave's windows.

Platforms
modo is designed to be platform agnostic. In fact, approximately 98% of modo source code is platform independent so that both Mac and Windows versions are developed with 100% concurrency. This means that Mac and Windows versions are identical in feature set so that no matter which operating system you use, you will have a consistent experience with modo.
When you purchase modo you will receive both Mac and Windows versions on the same disc so the platform choice is yours.
It gets my vote!

whit kinda interface does it yous, the traditional 4 pane or the single pane system that ts uses.
-
either way, this'd be interesting to do the HTL cutscenes with...
like the destruction of the bastion one from FS2..
it certainly gets my vote, it'll be great to see the venerable cutscenes get the SCP treatment.. just rip the sound from 'em, and voila!
-
I hope it uses 4 pane. One pane is always too confusing for me.
-
Holy ****....look at their pricing scheme

Oh, but it only applies to college guys...
-
this seems interesting, might give it a go if the graphics interface isn't too user-unfriendly
-

I think the default may be single, but I'm not sure. Here's a quote from their interface section:
The sculptability of modo's interface allows you to come from any other program and make yourself at home. Don't like working in a quad viewport? Give yourself eight! Or just one!
http://www.luxology.com/modo/ <-- Go there to find details about the program. Lots of videos too.
