Have we exhausted the Freespace community's supply of modders with an interest in Babylon 5? The Babylon Project could do with some help if we are to finish up the few remaining ships. Consider giving us a hand will ya? ;)

It's wierd how the FS community really isn't into B5 at all. I consider FS damn good science fiction, as is Babylon 5, so you'd think people who appreciate the one would appreciate the other. In reality though it doesn't seem to work that way. Oh well. Time to try spacebattles.com

I think the problem here is that most people are busy. I'd sign up to write missions if I wasn't already too busy myself.

I love b5 i'm just too busy right now to get fully involved with the project. However, if time isn't an issue and you need a ship modeled that peaks my interest I may be convinced to take a crack at it.

I wuv B5 too, I just can't seem to finish anything, and can't really model well enough to be any use.

everyone loves B5, were just all too busy, I once worked on the TBP team, at the time though there was an overabundence of modelers.

I don't know anything about B5... and I have difficulty creating copies of models. So that knocks me out of the running.

what exactly needs to be done? conversions, textures, or 'from scratch' models?

I a great Babylon 5 fan, since i have seen all 5 seaons on DVD.. but i'm a newbie in Freespace Modding.. i'm knew only the basics of Modding, i.e how to implement new Nebulas/Planets and how to implement new
ships and weapons and the have the knowledge to edit the table files.
But i'm simply useless for a project like TBP ;)
And in FRED i'm a noob too
Additional i have already a mod, to translate and to upgrade.. this is a small project, but my intro to the great world of freespace modding ;)
I think the only thing, what i can do is a German Text Translation for TBP...

I know, that the Psamtik was destroyed by the SJ Sathanas.. but another new Hatshepsut ship was called GVD Psamtik, too
I mean, they're Vasudans, they aren't very creative;)

Everything. There are some models we have not even started yet and the ones we have started are in varying stages of completeness. Mainly because our team members specialise in different things.
So for example one team member will create some nice geometry. Then the model will sit around waiting for a uvmapper to take a shine to it. Once it has a uvmap it'll sit around waiting for a texture artist (of which we have only one, the overworked Sigma) to paint it up.
So anyone who can model / uv / texture can find something they can help with.

well, im probibly not the best expert on the show, as ive only seen most episodes a couple times. but il look around and see if anything peaks my intrest.

yes, axem is back up and running and im working on some new features. my progress is sluggish but i havent given up on the thing yet. progress slows up everytime they add another feature to the scp but its all good. forum is here (http://www.game-warden.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=43) and the download for the beta is here (http://www.game-warden.com/nukemod-cos/Nukemod/nukemod021305.zip) . have fun :D

For the info of everyone over in this thread I've started a whole bunch of threads in the Babylon Project public forum designed to make it easier for people to contribute to TBP in a casual manner. I'm pretty much bending over backwards to make it as easy as possible for the casual modder to find something they can contribute which suits their particular abilities. Should be an interesting experiment in openning up a mod to the public even if it falls on it's arse.

Yeah the only problem I had with it at this point is the dds files can't be read by the pof viewer, so I can't get any textures:mad:

just convert em to pcx if you want to see them in the pof viewer. they look a million times better in game with all the maps applied.
im thinking about doing a vorlon dreadnaught, but im having a hard time finding good high res referance pics.

Hey people. We really need a sound guy who is able to capture samples from the show or make up nice clean new samples that sound the same. Anyone interested?

Good question. The DVDs are probably the first port of call. Do you have them by chance? If not someone else can capture the appropriate sounds. For some sounds though it may be impossible to get decent samples unspoilt by background noise and music etc...

Oh I see. Nah, I don't have the DVD, darn. If someone captures them, they may also be able to edit them, but if you need someone for that, I could help.

it wouldnt be the first time i let somone use one or more of my ships in a mod. nukemod is first and formost a ship pack, so i guess it would be ok. but keep in mind its a work in progress. im also converting my gatling guns over from the goober system to the more flexible bobboau system, so that may cause you some modding troubles. the bata still uses the goober system, that means the gun models are part of the ship. so keep that in mind.

I still need staff to help me with this mod. We've had a couple of talented modellers step forward in I_E_Maverick and Axem but I could still do with a sound effects guy and especially a pof conversion guy with trueSpace skills.
