I remember a long time ago somebody was working on a mission generator. Did anything come to be of this? :)
-
Nope.
-
Mission generator, never heard about that before.
-
That would need to be somewhat sophisticated to add events and such to all work and not have problems. What would be a more worthwhile thing would be a background generator.
-
A mission generator would alos have to make up a plot for the mission as well. The user could type the specifications into a form and then the generator, well, generates. But I'm not sure, a computer lakes creativity.

Do a search, BW and I wrote some starter docs on this in the SCP forum. I still need to start the coding, and I doubt that'll happen in the next year or so unless I break a leg and get stuck at home or something.

Seriously, though, I'd love to work on it, but your best bet is to find that documentation, see what you think of it, note any ideas, and find some other programmer to do it. I'd need to re-learn C just to get started, and as said, I won't have time for that till after my exams next year May/June. Unless I fail this year off course, in which case I'll have plenty of time next year. That's a bad scenario, though.
If you look at the docs I wrote, it'll explain what a thing like this can and cannot do. You can't make a good campaign by hitting a 'generate' button a few dozen times.

I have never heard of this generator. It would have some good points and some limitations, and as said; lacking creativity.
I agree on Kasperl on this one.

Or, one could learn to FRED... IIRC, the random mission generator was meant for skirmishes, not for scripted missions...
-
RTFM
Seriously.
Do a search, and post the link to the thread. It'll explain why you need to have some FREDding knowledge to write stuff to go into the generator, and why some work might be needed.
