Title: Turret Question

Do you have to make your own turrets in TrueSpace to add to a model, or can you borrow the stock :v: turrets?

If you can use the stock turrets, how do you get them into TrueSpace?

I suppose you could use the turrets from another model, but it'd probably be easier to make your own. You'd have to convert the pof to a cob(?), then copy the turret and attach it properly to your new model.

Most turrets from the game are very simple anyway - either a very short hexagonal prism (single-part turrets), or a box with another box for the barrel (multi-part). Easy to make. :)

Import a :V: model, rip a turret off it and save it as a cob. Then create your custom ship, import the turrent model, stick it on your ship, done.

However, I've noticed a tendency for modellers to make their own for sake of quality. :)

Edit: looks like I was beaten to it. :)

For single part , V's are ok but the multi ones are for ****

Best bet is to ask someone to use theirs. I've been scrounging some of the games I go tinstalled and lookign for objects that put together look like good turrets or luanchers.

I've had some succes breaking objects down and they look like good secondaries.

theres one that has a single texture, the rest have alot of standard fs textures, theese are left over from the pre-htl days. so they might redce performance abit because of the extra texture passes.

gatling turrets still arent in the code, but i think the coders are otimistic about those being implemented. all they have to do is make vwep work on turrets really. these are the ones im phasing out in favor of new high-poly ones.
