I'm looking into getting an adaptor so I can use my Dual Shock PS2 controller with my pc. My PS2 is on the blink - it was one of the first batches in the country, so there are a few little problems with it, like it doesn't play some dvds or PS1 games, and has trouble reading some discs. Plus it's generally knackered and beaten-up. So I want to play some of my old PS1 games using an emulator, but using a PS controller.
Does anyone here have one of these adaptors, and are there any issues with them? I'm looking for a good quality one, so if you have a cheap and nasty one, let me know so I can avoid it.
Cheers!

Your PS2 problems are similar to my own. Mine was from the first run when everyone had to wait on waiting lists for months to get one (except me, since I worked at the store that year. ;))
Doesn't play PS2 games at all, never tried dvds, and ps1 games are iffy at best.
Unfortunately, I've never tried the adapter, so I haven't anything particularly pertinent to add to this discussion ;) but there are TONS on eBay, and I bet if you go through someone with a decent feedback rating, the product will be satisfactory. :)

I've got an X-series something or other (think it's by killjoy)...picked it up for about 10 dollars at some computer store a while back. It worked alright at first, but I dug it out, and no matter how many different controllers I plug in it just shows that a couple of buttons are pushed, and the rest don't react.
I've been trying to get it to work lately...

Raa: Apparently the problem is with the laser head going out of alignment or some such - it can't focus on the disc properly, so it can't read it. I read a guide somewhere about fixing it (open 'er up and tinker with it), but I don't think my little brother would be too pleased if I killed it outright (he plays GT4 almost constantly)...
Cheers for the ebay pointer - I'll take a look. :)

I have one, a relatively inexpensive PS->USB adapter I bought at radio shack for about 5 bucks. Works like a charm.

Off topic I know, but does anyone find the positioning of the left thumbstick... awkward? I can't seem to find anyone else that agrees...

Do you have unreasonably large/small hands? :D
In my opinion the Dual Shock is almost perfect. The "grips" could do with being a slightly different shape, but it's by far the best controller made so far...
