Agreed. As long as you don't try to understand the plot(true to the game roots, confusing from start to finish) it's a total blast. I WANT one of those futuristic Humvee-type things...

If it's true to the game, do you also have to play it/watch it for at least 100 hours to get all the subplots in it?  (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/wink.gif)

I saw the preview. It so far looks amazing - the effects are brilliant. Can anyone say render farms?  (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/eek.gif)

Hangin' out for it.  (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif)

Well, Final Fantasy has already opened here in Singapore. I'm definitely going to catch it!!!

But most of the publicity about the movie is going to Dr Aki Ross though. Even the local magazine here has a picture of Aki in a string bikini that was said to be featured on the front cover of Maxim!!! Seems another Final Fantasy movie is in the works too. Different story and charaters.

Oh yeah. It is also rumored that the Dr Aki Ross will be like any normal actress. She will not be restricted to just being Aki Ross or just in Final Fantasy movies but may also be in other 3D movies as well!!!

Way to go!!!!!!Eeeehawwwww!!!!! (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/biggrin.gif)

Japanese usually have awesome ship designs in their movies ( anime I mean ). Many of my ships are inspired from there. Mhh, one day I'll do the Captain Harlock's Arcadia...

I didn't really think it was that confusing at all, and you certainly don't need to watch it more than once for plot elements. Really the ONLY thing from the movie that connected it to any of the Final Fantasy game titles was the name of Dr. Cid. Nothing about any of the other characters/weapons/ships/story bore any resemblance whatsoever to any of the FF games. Cid shows up one way or another as a scientist/airship builder in every one of the Final Fantasy titles, he's even a playable character in VII

Seems like the smart move to me. I hear the movie budget got up to $140 million, so I imagine reusing the character could save a lot of money in the next one.  (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif)

Well, and i'll bet that through some easy modifications to things like hair length and base skin color/eye color/hair color it wouldn't even be that obvious.

mmh, I didn't think of macross lol, that's quite common designs (space planes).
Ships like in Sol Bianca are really impressive (even if the anime itself is quite dull).
Title: OT-Final Fantasy
Post by: morris13 on July 13, 2001, 03:34:00 pm
Are you talking about the new Sol Bianca anime or the origional? I would agree that the new ones, although fantastically pretty, are not very well written. The origionals are much better. It's too bad they didn't make more of them, but you'll have that when the director gets thrown in jail for narcotics trafficing =P
I've been thinking about trying to make a model of the Sol Bianca. It'd be a pretty big challenge because the ship is so complex and curvy, but it might be fun.

It's perfect.
Does someone has seen the Diablo2 cutscenes? the result is very closed (and even more in the addon, that's just... "drool", like everybody says)

Wow - this dude, too... his lack of expression gives it away, but the detail... bristles on chin and cheeks, randomness of the hair patterns, even scars and various skin marks... amazing. But the ears look wrong, somehow... Oh, I see the problem: The ear on the right of the pic has a different skin tone than the face or other ear - probably a glitch in the lighting.

I can tell, the link you put up. As good as a fake as it is. It is pretty clear to me that it's fake. Skintone, for one, is a little too peachy. Yes, I know some people have real pink skin, I even know a tub-o-lard who is practically red   (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/wink.gif), but theres just something about that face that screams "Close, but no cigar."

{edit: I was referring to the girl. The guy is good too, but again, It's fake.}

Lei Wulong was my primary character for about two years (mental note - I kick *** ). I came second in a tournament in N. Ireland (some guy with a programmable pad beat me and nobody said a thing?!?).

Now it's Nina and Brian Fury, both are immensly lethal. The thing that killed the game play IMO was the lack of reversals for all characters, Krap, I could write a scientific paper on this (mental note - Shuddup Martin, you're beginning to bore the non believers).

They say this film has Cid in it (he hasn't failed to be in a FF Title so far). What about all the other frequently used charachters; like Biggs, Wedge and the animals; Chocobos and Mogs and all the summon monsters such as Ifrit and Shiva (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif) Don't tell me they've abandoned them (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/frown.gif)

Maybe the freaky tentacled alien things were the chocobos, or one of the other phantoms. Who knows. =P As far as I could tell Cid was the ONLY thing in the whole movie that had any connection to the games.

FF7 is the BEST game in the series, with far more gameplay than FF8. I'm not sure about the PC version though, but the game is certainly worth getting (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif)

Had it, played it, beat it, sold it =)
Its great, I liked it a lot better than FF8 OR 7. It has some really funny and pretty movie sequences, and the gameplay is pretty good too. They do a really good job of forcing you to use all your characters fairly evenly, and there aren't too many of them like there are in some games.
Honestly I didn't like 8 as much as 7... 8 was just TOO FREAKING EASY. I swear, most of the bosses in the game you can finish off with ONE limit break from Irvine, its just stupidly easy.

I like the optional events in FF7 which are longer and more enjoyable than those in FF8. You do need to do every optional event in FF7 to fully understand the story as opposed to FF8 where they are more optional.

I think you're confused. Emerald weapon is in FF7 which I said WASN'T as stupidly easy. FF8 just has the Ultima (or Omega? i don't remember...) weapon at the top of the final boss' tower, and that IS stupidly easy if you know how. The thing about those uber-boss fights is that generally, there's only ONE way you can do it. If you do it that way, its easy. If you don't, its impossible. Against the final weapon in FF8 you HAVE to use Holy Wars and other invulnerability tricks or theres just no way to kill it.

Double Summon Knights of the round and Phonix and give Mime to more than one person in FF7 and you are INVINCIBLE (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/biggrin.gif)

Bah. Tekken really is jack squat compared to Street Fighter Ex 3  (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/tongue.gif)

Tekken? The grphics are okay. Street Fighter Ex 3 graphics are a bit too angular.

If they could make the Street Fighter characters as realistic as the characters in the Final Fantasy movie, I would buy it and play it immediately!

Here's a one million dollar questiion: if Aki Ross was real, would you dump your girlfriend for her?

the movie rocked, but the plot was stupid if u read the credits it had Donald Sutherland and Alec Balwind in it.  Which showed their politcal views of weapons bad, protect mother earth bull****.  ANybody remember him saying he'd move out of the country if Bush was elected president?  What an idoit.

Well, given that the earth good/weapons bad 'bull****' is the main plot element in ALL the final fantasy games, I very much doubt that Sutherland OR baldwin had anything to do with it. Its MUCH more likely that they worke on this project because it already HAD that kind of viewpoint.

Yea, but that Diablos was a pain in the neck  (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif)

oh and for cloud to learn omnislash, you need to get all his limit breaks first...basically to get the first limit breaks u have to get a certain number of kills then to get the second limit break, u need to use the first one a number of times........
