EA have released the demo of Battlefield 2 to Gamespot as an exclusive deal. However I've no doubt that other sites will mirror it as soon as they can.
If you've a Gamespot account, you can get the demo here:
http://www.gamespot.com/promos/bf2demo.html
If people hear of new mirrors then please post the links up here.
Edit: I should mention, apparently the demo is limited to a ten minute round (rather than being settable by the server). Hopefully someone will hack/patch that fairly promptly as right now it's a bit of a joke (what good is a demo if you can't evaluate the product properly?).

games.telenet.be (Dutch) (http://games.telenet.be/index.php?act=one&nid=18451) will have a mirror soon, good European server, but it might get bottlenecked
EDIT: Top link workie no more, so here's a working link, second in the list: http://games.telenet.be/demos.php (http://games.telenet.be/demos.php)

Downloading at a bottlenecked rate of 140kb/sec, 53 minutes to go.
Speaking of Battlefield 2, a fellow Battlestar Galactica mod project is also making one for that engine. Once I finish a teaser release of BSG project for FS2, I'll be helping them out too.

If anyone with the Video Card; GeForce4 ti4200, has gotten the demo to work (it might just be me), could you please sound off and/or tell me how you got it to work...?
-
u MUST use the drivers that came with the demo... Forceware 77.XX
-
Yeah, don't worry about, i did install the Drivers and everything, but i've since found out that it's the Card Itself, BF2 just doesn't like it, and as such it won't work on my Computer at all if i don't get a newer card...
...not a good thing considering i've already spent a good $100 pre-ordering the Full Version...
-
So far I'm liking this much more than Battlefield 1942. The level design seems to be very good, lots of nooks and crannies and roofs that are accessible.
Plus the reaction people have when you type: "Durka durka durka mohammad ali jihad!" :D
Not being able to override control bindings though is... frustrating...

Same here. Won't work on my GeForce Ti4800 SE :doubt:
-
damn. Minimum requirement for ATI Radeon cards is a 9500 258 Mb. I've only got a Radeon 9200SE.
That, and a 1Ghz CPU.
This sucks...

Couldn't agree more. And here I was thinking that my old comp could still run the newest games (with low graphic settings) for at least a year.
-
I click on the download link and it takes me to a 404...nice.
-
Hmmm everyone must be downloading it,very slow at downloading *yawn*
-
I think this whole "GeForce4 can't run BF2 no way no how" is going to piss quite a few people off, i know i bloody well am...!
-
It's EA, what did you expect? :doubt:
-
For you to give up your soul and buy an nVidia card - preferably one of the high end ones.
I've got the demo now, and it's very impressive I must say. Certain things are a sheer joy to do although at times it does seem kinda frantic and unplanned. My main gripe is that they've supplied a ten minute cap on each round with the demo - so no game can last more than ten minutes. Rather pointless.. good thinking to whoever came up with that idea :(
Other than that, bravo! I'll be buying it.
-
Finally got the multiplayer working, but it still has "connection issues" at inopportune times.
I've setup the fighters to run fine with the joystick. Fun, except when a "connection issue" hits during takeoff and you slam into a wall. ...or I slam into the ground when dodging a missile when a "connection issue" hits. ...ugggh...
Personally I'm finding the MIG easier to fly than the American VTOL. ...and I still hate Helicopters. Always have, always will.
-
i loved choppers in DC
-
Hookay. Overall, I like it. Allready pre ordered it also.
But the helos are not so fun to fly than in DC. Not even near that, that dissappointed me. That's propably the biggest flaw what I can think of.
-
There is apparently two simple "mods" that remove the time limit and unlock all weapons. Now I've found the time limit remover, but I was wondering if anyone has tracked down the weapon-unlock? Apparently, its a simple edit in the config files, but I can't seem to find instruction anywhere.
edit: nevermind, got it.
-
FX5700 card minimum.
****. That.

From here (http://forum.eagames.co.uk/viewtopic.php?t=685&start=90)
We've been talking to Benjamin Smith on the development team about this. There are no plans to implement GeForce 4 support in a patch. The engine was not built to run acceptably (performance or appearance-wise) on the GeForce 4 series of cards.
Well, I won't be buying this game and I'm guessing a big part of their customer base will do the same. Brilliant marketing strategy EA!
-
Also Windows XP only, I notice.
-
Anyway to get the 32 players per team for singleplayer?
EDIT: Woo nevermind...
-
Er, why are so many people complaining about the requirements? Isn't this supposed to be next-gen game?
-
Yeah, I believe it's pretty much the first of the next-gen titles to come out.

The problem is that the game runs just fine on ATI cards of equal or weaker performance (even Radeon 8500 is supported!). The only difference between GeForce 4 series cards and same level ATI cards is the used pixel shader version. Nvidia has 1.3 while ATI has 1.4. Would it be too much to ask to get support for older shader version?

For a game that wont run on a gf4, it dont look too good.

Which is kind of ironic, considering it's got the nVidia "The way its meant to be played" thing going on...
