Title: Burning A Copy of Freespace

Hey all.  I wanted to burn some copies of Freespace for my friends, but I have a few questions:

1. Will they need a cd-code/crack for it?

2.  How do I copy it???

Get the ISOs and FSO, which has a built in no CD crack.

any way back up the 3 cds on a single dvd r so that it installs like normal? that would be cool :D

If you don't want to use SCP go to my FAQ's Download and look for the HotU crack pack.

That's basically the 1.2 patch with a no CD cracked exe.

Erm... I don;t think there's any difference between copying FS2 and any other CD - the fact that they're on 80 minute discs used to be a problem, but anone who's still using (or able to find) 76 minute discs is in the extreme minority any more.

To be honest I think you're right BW. I've never heard of any copy protection issues to do with copying the CDs etc.

I think FS2 was released (1999) before CD copy protection became standard.

More likely it's got to do with the fact that [V] encouraged you to copy it via the EULA.

I wonder if that was added by [V] once they saw the adverising budget FS2 had in the hope that if lots of people copied the game they'd sell more retail copies too? :D

Sorry this is off topic but, EULA?

I think they encouraged people to free copy it is just to spread the knoloage of it, not really to get alot of retail copies. You wouldent get great numbers bought that way. Friends would copy it for friends not tell and buy.

Ah but once you get a critical mass people hear about it and buy it. People with no friends at least :)
