Post by: Boomer on June 13, 2005, 04:47:06 pm
If I ever find out where the main HQ of Caligari resides....

How the **** do you glue a turret to the hull model in TS?!?!

I tried the Glue as Child tool but nothing happended!

A little help before I do something socially unacceptable to my computer? Please?

Do it with TrueView. Check IPs tutorial (http://underworld.fortunecity.com/pacman/106/fs2mods/shipcreationguide/creatingyourmodelusingts.html) for info how to.

EDIT: Or read kara's turreting tutorial

*Lifts sledgehammer to smash computer*

*Reads FAQ's*

*Forgets about the sledge hammer*

*Sledge falls on foot*

Thank You!  You have saved my computer from complete destruction!

Truespace is nice but it can be a pain in the lower posterior anatomical region.

did you glue it to a light, then glue the light to the ship?

I use Blender for modeling too.  Does it work for texturing?

I thought you glued the light to the turret, then the turret to the ship.

Good on you then. ;) But no, not really on the textures. :(
Even if you can get the ship textured up in blender, chances are you'll loose part or all of the textures during the transfer to TS, so that's not much use.

I find the best combo is Blender for the mesh itself, TS as the heirarchy editor and conversion launch platform, and lithunwrap for UV mapping used in conjunction with Paint Shop Pro or Photoshop to draw the textures themselves.

Anyways, in ultra brief summary: glue a light to the turret gemoetry as a sibling, and drag & drop that group onto the hull's group/geometry via Trueview. :)
