Title: Hi! And have an error with it.
Post by: Musopticon? on June 14, 2005, 04:25:28 am
Sweet. New community to join.;7  Too bad FS2_open  refuses to work and makes this kind of assertion:

Assert: Web_cursor_bitmap >= 0
File: e:\languages\visual studio projects\threepointsix\fs2_open\code\graphics\2d.cpp
Line: 1181

Call stack:
------------------------------------------------------------------
    game_init()    WinMainSub()    WinMain()    WinMainCRTStartup()    kernel32.dll 7c816d4f()
------------------------------------------------------------------

More on that subject: Depug Spew gives this kind of info...

Cannot get hadnle to monochrome driver
Setting language to english
Wokka! Error opening file (strings.tbl)
Error parsing 'strings.tbl'
Error code = 5.

I can see the loading screen with the game title, but after that it just crashes and gives these error logs.

My specs a good enough for the avanced stuff and FS 2 is patched. Also the vpMedia files are supposedly the newest ones available and FS2_open is version 3.6(with the launcher of version 5.2). Have a happy moment of brainstorming.

Hardware specs, flags enabled and ....

language of FS2, please?

(I suppose I've seen SCP with German FS2, but I'm not sure if it works with other languages.)

Oh, and if I try to load FS2 from the main exe(without the FS2_open launcher) it gives me this:
-
--------------------------
Error!
---------------------------
Error: Error parsing 'weapons.tbl'

Error code = 2.

File:C:\projects\freespace2\code\Weapon\Weapons.cpp

Line: 1432

Call stack:

------------------------------------------------------------------

Then the menu works fine, but when I try start the first campaign mission(briefings work); CTD.

Musopticon? please sit tight for a moment here - this is beyond me; please wait for a more technically inclined person to come along in a few hours. :)

Flags are the command line extensions, like -glow, -spec that turn on and off functions in SCP. They're set in the launcher by the checkboxes.

Thanks, no hurry. I'm not dying to play here.

Just for the heck of it; I unchecked everything from the "flags" and told the game to launch with the minimun settings. Still the same error.

You're basically describing the problems I'd expect to see if you are missing the original vp files so I suspect you have one of two problems.

1) You've put FS2_Open somewhere other than your Freespace 2 folder.

2) You've deleted (or somehow corrupted) your standard media.vp files. The Media VP files Do Not replace these. They merely add to them.

Well, that helped. I had merely installed it into the wrong directory.:ick:

Right now I'm having my ass handed to me by NTF-pilots, but all looks very shiny. Thank you everyone.

No problem. I'll have to put this one into my FAQ. I've seen it enough times :)
