Bloddy Hell! 2 Million quid!!
That winner's lucky!

Spam auction. There's no way that someone's paying £10 million (or whatever it winds up being) for any tickets, let alone buy them off some bastard looking to make a profit from the event. If it was serious, they'd send Sir Bob a cheque...
-
What kind of moron would bid that much money on something that useless... wait were the tickets for charity?
-
Yep, Sir Bob is furious, started threatening to sue Ebay and wants people to boycott Ebay as being 'only interested in money and corporate greed'.
Oh yes, and the Boomtown rats are suing him for money they 'still' haven't recieved from 2 decades ago ;)
Anyone stupid enough to buy a ticket gets exactly what they deserve, as for me, I'm making a CC donation, sitting back in my nice warm comfy chair, turning on the TV and getting a prime view ;)
Edit : Well, actually, I'm not, I'm just making a donation, I wouldn't be interested in watching most of the bands individually, nor would I be interested as a bunch, especially with the threat of Spice Girls Reunion looming over the whole affair ;)

NNNNNNNNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
*charges head-first out the window*
I've no idea what the line-up is for the shows, but chances are I'm not interested. ;) I'll donate or buy something that contributes instead.

Excellent.
I'd been wondering what to do with that RPG.

Happy dreams tonight.

A friend of mine is going to the G8 protests, dunno if she is going to the show as well, though. She's seriously getting leave from school for political reasons for this.
Anyway, Spice Girls Reunion? God.....

Aren't you like...in Holland? It's a bit of a drive, no?
Eh, the whole Live8 thing ruined what could have been perfectly good protests. The whole protest "scene" is going mainstream now. Instead of Black Bloc anarchist fighting the cops, we get to watch aging pop stars and their adoring though clueless fans cheer the cause of ending poverty. Woop-dee-doo.
Nothing is any good if other people like it.
-
You can jump on an Easyjet flight from Schipol to Edinburgh, probably costing less than £30. Not difficult...

I can't tell if that's sarcasm or not.

God damn EU. It cost $1500+ if you want to even think about crossing the Atlantic, and more depending on where you want to go; over $3000 to certain places in Europe.

Completely serious*. Protesting is supposed to imply a certain degree of radicalism. If Jane Housewife thinks it would be a nice day for the whole family to go out to Gleneagles and have a bit of fun, that sort of defeats the purpose. It's not threatening.
*well, OK, not 100%. It's like indy rock; there is a certain sense of elitism in play. When everyone "discovers" it, it's hard to maintain that oh-so-important sense of superiority. Though I am hardly one to romanticize the average protestor, now or ever.

So youd rather have open battles on the streets of Edinburgh? :wtf:
That would just discredit the whole ideology (already has to many degrees) - I fail to see how tearing up Gleneagles golf course will make people agree with any motivation behind it.
Radicalism is fine. Hurting people is not. And all that threats ever achieve, is to get people either threatening you back, or just ignoring you as a set of violent loonies; violence just obscures any message that you might have.
Not to mention that radicalism doesn't require fighting with police. It requires advocating social & political change, not violently advocating it.
If some dick decides the way to solve the ills of the world is to trash a McDonalds (which only really hurts the poor minimum wage guys who have to work there), then I'm more inclined to fight against than with.

Well, I think she was planning to meet up with a British friend of her somewhere along the way, but it isn't exactly the largest stretch ever. Anyway, as for the protest thing: The more people in on a protest, the bigger statement you get. The more riots, the more you become an outcast.
