Yup, our classes for today were cancelled because of a bomb threat. Streets taped off, firemen hangin' around, and what will become of the poor students with exams tomorrow but have no way of getting their study materials?
Thought I'd share...:shaking: Apparently, this the 3rd time in our school history, and Oakwood's only 97 years old!
-
...my school has cops patrolling the halls. Every day. What does that tell you?
Kids around here are smart enough (or scared enough) to realize you don't **** with this school.
As for the rest of my schools, I've lived on Air Force Bases, gone to Air Force sponsored schools. Same case as above.
-
Heh, the funniest thing I ever saw was when we had a bomb-threat at the Police Station where I used to work, we all had to go stand in the car park.... next to the Fuel stores for the Police Cars.... smart move huh? ;)
-
I remember a bomb threat was made at my school. I bet the bugger thought he could get out early, only to find himself coralled with another few hundred people in a nearby primary school playground for ages.
-
Never had a bomb threat, a fire alarm, or anything whatsoever.
Note to self: release 3 pigs, with numbers 1,2 and 4 on them.
-
I have to admit, I have thought about calling in a bomb threat myself a few times. Like when it was time for my college portfolio interview, and I totally wasn't ready. I never have though...chiken****.
-
At the school I attended to, there were at least 60-70 bomb threats in two years. Somebody had terrible fun phoning the police.
-
Heh, well I'm surprised how many peeps have voted 'yes' so far...:nervous: Is the world really so crazy?!

I don't know why, but that made me ROFL.
-
Had a bomb threat once. Cops came in, looked around for 10 minutes (the entire campus mind you), said it was ok :doubt: Dumbass cops down here.
-
In CI, we used to get bomb threats biweekly.
-
Yeah, had a few bomb alerts, especially in the late 80s, with the Algerian terrorists and stuff. A few random fire alerts too, and once the heat... something -the thing that heats water- exploded, so there was a flood, so no school for a week. Cool, that was.
-
don't know about a bomb threat but at my high school a year or too before I started there was a threat of a sniper/guy on the roof with a gun. As it turns out it was some guy who wanted to play a prank or something, called the suicide help line from his cellphone saying he was going to kill himself on the roof of the school. As it turns out the suicide help line is at the police office...and well, they sent swat...or whatever our equivalent is

Almost everyone in my school carries a pocket knife, there have been about 3 public cases of guns brought to school, and 2 bomb threats that I can remember of course they didn't even evacuate the school.

LoL. You used to work for the coppers eh? ;)
My Aunt used to be one of the radio people at station, then she went off to work as a security guard. Now she is a high school teacher.
I tell her if anyone gets out of line just take your batton in with you. :p
When I was in school, we had one Bomb scare once, twas over in 20minutes. Apparently they traced the call and found the dumbass kid that did it.
Otherwise that's pretty rare here.
It's a worry hearing all that other stuff you guys are saying though... o.O
Just carrying a knife around in public is illegal here, let alone school. If you had a problem with someone at school you either had a chat with them and / or threw a few fists and sorted things out, but that was it.
Using knives and guns etc is cowardice IMO. Skill-less items for skill-less kids. :doubt:

Many years ago, when I still in fourth grade, somebody called in a bomb threat for my elementary school.
There was actually something to it, no less. However, to quote what the bomb squad guy said to the newspaper..."No detonator. Some ANFO, but no detonator."

Like I said, ours wer bi-weekly. However, 90% of the cases were traced to the payphones inside the school.
-
Its always the stupid ones that do it too. The one at our school called it in via mobile.
Think they faced expulsion too.
I can't get over bi-weekly bomb threats. =o
Why did kids continue to do it? o_O
Didn't they catch them and expel them?
-
Small town Ontario. Yeah we had one bomb threat (probably the first and maybe the last ever at my old high school). There was nothing to it in the end but we we're all evacuated pretty quickly and had the day off.
It was a beautiful day too...so it was quite worth it.

Ahh, a man after my own heart. Well said indeed. Though it should be noted that using a knife properly requires a great deal of skill. But your average boxcutter-waving scumbag isn't likely to have had any training (the fact that he's waving it around to begin with tell you that)...
I've never had a bomb threat at school or at work or whatever. The best I've had was a disgruntled ex-pupil who came after the headteacher with a baseball bat and a knife at my comprehensive school. An ARU was called so it was over pretty quickly.
-
We've had bomb threats before. One of the guys in my grade was the one making the phone calls... :nervous:

Indeed.
It all started going down-hill when they invented crossbows... :sigh:
Now any fool with a gun could kill the greatest man. A sad time it is that advances in technology make the stupid dangerous. :(
-
The stupid were always dangerous, it's just back then it took more of them (and they were never in short supply).
-
Hahah, nicely put. But they're still rather plentiful, it seems. Perhaps Darwin was wrong after all....
-
 True I guess.
But a small group of Intelligent people could often control them.
...Sees the Irony of todays situation. :sigh:
-
Not really...
By definition, the exceptionally intelligent cannot be a majority of any population. They would no longer be exceptional then. When the rest of humanity catches up (and assuming they do catch up: presumably smart people evolve too), the definition of intelligence is revised upwards.
-
Yet the stupid will always get dumber and dumber as each year passes by. :p
-
We didn't just have a bomb scare at my school, we actually had a bomb go off. It was a pipe bomb, and blew the hell out of one of the boys restrooms. Thank god that nobody was in there.
-
I've never had a bomb threat...
...but I'd rather have one than the potential and tension that sometimes comes due to possible city-wide rioting and religious voilence. (we had that once...man, it was simply scary then..)

pigs, eh? we were going to release greased up chickens... cause they're harder to catch than pigs :)

I remember in middle school after the Columbine shooting we got 50 bomb threats a week for 2 weeks.
And then in high school there was a bomb threat, but school wasn't cancelled. We just sat around outside for two hours while the bomb squad went through the building.
